Admin: if this is the wrong place pls let me know. thanks

I'm planning on keeping notes here, and noting progress, if I have any. Mumbling to myself sorting out the project. Which i bought with a miss after warm up and the assurance that it codes as ignition on number 3.

been reading a bunch of info on this forum, and watching engines getting fixed. and disassembled, and fixed.

i ordered some parts today, sort of the way i used to do on the boats, spares for the spares. going after the miss first, not Miss First. maybe it's just a plug. have 6 on the way. maybe it's a coil pack, have 3 on the way with the matching wire sets. [just for me, that is the weirdest and strangest thing i've ever seen. but i won't tell anyone] maybe it's the igniter. [the What?] it makes me think i should buy a wrecking yard so i can find enough stuff i never heard of.

i don't know if i should be in the "3rd Gen Builds" category, 'cause i don't know that i'm doing what people think of as a build. i am attracted to this ride because i drove my Dad's as part of my driver's-ed. He had an early one in about '62 or so. so it's like crossing my trail, but in a much more comfortable truck. I like the looks of FJ's because they kinda carry on that early idea. I like this one because it's compact and can go thru the places that stopped the Man Van. something i'm looking forward to.

so i am setting this up as a long haul touring truck, for visiting my dispersed family and friends. support vehicle for family reunions. my road trips have destinations that revolve around places i haven't seen. i drove the wash road out of Death Valley in the Man Van, over corrugated washboard, out of the North end of the park. Next time 4Runner gets to make the trip. Maybe as the Park entrance. Maybe with the KL250 on the hitch. Stuff like that. Palo Duro Canyon is on my itinerary for the Texas reunion. And Colorado River, Lake Mead, Mt Whitney, etc... if this is a "build", the goal is to make it as trouble-free and reliable and long distance as possible. if such a thing is possible with the 5VZ-FE. otherwise i might be considering a BUILD with a Chevy 235 straight six. . .. ...

i'm just talking to myself, but sometimes i crack myself up thinking about this stuff.

i let them graze together, like burros, they crave companionship. plus the transfer of road knowledge i s valuable. of course they have their own preferences, which i try to accommodate as much as i can.

i am considering a Denso injector set from CS Performance on ebay. Ebay? Really? Alrighty then.

by way of contrast, these are the injectors i'm familiar with.

these things seem to go forever. hundreds of thousands of Hours at sea....... better days tomorrow

Ya I got a missfire cylinder 3 and it was the injector. Burnt up a plug but I don’t think it threw a code just missed.

The rims on your Chevy should be the same bolt pattern as the 4R?

I'M SO SLOW! the van has a damaged rim and i'm keeping it running for now. it can haul full sheets of plywood and sheetrock. something Toy won't be doing. unless i build a trailer.
