I just got the new SSO hitch mounted spare tire carrier for my 4Runner and am trying to install the SSO backup camera relocation kit right now. It's giving me an aneurysm so hopefully someone has succeeded and doesn't mind chiming in!

    WHY.

They sent that circular plate, cables (half of which didn't even apply to this kit) and this little plate to mount the camera on - which also didn't fit the camera so I had to widen the camera hole and add new holes to actually screw the camera on.

    My poorly drilled holes.

I don't know if the newer models have smaller cameras than the 2010, but the hole on the tire carrier didn't line up with the hole on the camera mount and the back of my camera wouldn't even come close to fitting through. Ended up using a bunch of hex nuts to move the camera forward enough so that it could clear the carrier without crushing the cables and the rear of the camera.

I did pop the centre hub out of my rim for the camera to work with this kit.

The final result. It was an exercise in frustration. I added my own licence plate light and wired that up with the tow outlets.

I still have my winter tires on in case anyone is wondering why my spare doesn't match the rest of them. Putting my Falkens back on in 2 weeks when I get my suspension redone.
