I noticed a rattle coming from the front end of the vehicle. I can only assume it's the skid plate. Only rattles when closing the door. I had my wife close the door about 10 times trying to find it and she got pissed I was picking her new vehicle apart so she left before I could find it. haha. I have a power wagon so it could very well be a rock up there as it happens on my truck from time to time. Is this a semi common problem with the cheap thin skids? I was going to take it off but I ran out of time yesterday. I kind of want to get an up graded skid anyways but I have to take it one step at a time. Already got oem audio speakers coming and weathertech floor mats coming not to mention the tires and rims are already swapped. haha

Mine had a noise coming from the driver's front when I got it. Turns out it was the rubber splash guard in the driver's side front wheelwell that was making the noise. The fastener didn't fit snug, allowing it to rattle around. I just put a ziptie around the fastener to take up the slack, problem solved.

At first I thought it was something loose inside the door, as I could also hear it when shutting the door.

This is definitely metal on the skid.

Take it off and look around, reinstall. Takes maybe 10 minutes.

the wheel well liner can sound like metal on metal. As it’s a hard plastic clip slapping the metal frame.

Make sure the bolts are tight and installed correctly.

Trying to diagnose a hollow thud sound, when going over bump while making left turn.

kicked the OEM engine cover and I hear this slight metal to metal rattle sound is this normal? Too cold and snowy right
now to crawl under the truck

my ORP has 700 gentle miles so far.

I had a metallic rattle from the front when I would shut the Drivers door. Turned out to be poorly adjusted hood bumpers. Figured it out by lightly tapping on the front corners of the hood. See if those are making proper contact and adjust if necessary.

If you think it's the skids, they are very easy to drop. You gotta drop the front one to change the oil anyways. The second one is just a couple more bolts.

Husky Liners are way better than Weathertech IMO. Good choice.

There's a support bracket welded to the skid plate to bridge the jacking point and the frame. The top of the bracket is usually separated from the frame by a hair. That's probably the sound if you kick the skid plate, but it may not be the same sound when going over bumps while making a left turn. Only way to rule out the skid is to remove it and drive.

I would like to get a hold of the plastic trim piece shown in the bottom of this photo. Ideas? Is this one for sale?
