I had a 16 OR Taco, loved it despite all the random 1st year issues, still loved it when Discount Tire drove it into a pole and did $5k worth of damage, and even still when I had the 3rd brake light water leak. However, I loved it the most when Carmax wrote me a check for more than I paid for it brand new earlier this year after it started burning coolant with 46k miles. Did I mention the VIN ended in 666?

I now work for Toyota HQ, we are able to factory order literally any car we make to exactly the spec we want and I picked a 4Runner. Japan built, way better backseat, not that far off from the Taco’s tow rating, and I actually think the 1GR and 5 speed is a better combo than the 2GR and that 6 speed that could never decide what gear it wanted to be in.

I traded my 2018 TRD Off-road Tacoma in for a 2022 TRD ORP and couldn’t be happier. I loved my Tacoma and had zero issues, but the interior space became more of a priority over the bed so went w/ the 4Runner. Overall it is a better vehicle as long as you don’t need the bed. I do miss my Taco sometimes…

Made a similar trade myself recently. Had a '14 Tacoma and with a kid, wife, and two doggies, we all just didn't fit. Did some thinking and realized I used the bed mainly for a stroller. Have had the 4Runner for about two weeks now and have zero regrets so far.
