Looking for info from you all on the brakes seizing. Is it primarily front or rear? Thanks!

I have replaced the calipers on the front of mine several times. I only had one go bad on the rear.

replaced my fronts with OEM 4th gen fronts at 86k miles over 4 years ago and make it a point to clean and cycle them with a c-clamp at least once a year and they're still good. Just found a rear seized recently at 166k miles and replaced with 5th gen calipers which are almost the same thing, same pads.

Ever regret not doing 5th gen in front as well? Did changing the rears to 5th gen make much difference?

No for the front, they are already the sport sized brakes so I doubt it would make much of a difference. With nice powerstop Zsomething pads bedded in on their slotted and cross drilled rotors and stainless lines all around, brake performance is pretty good.

Also no for the rears, it feels like it did before my 4th gen caliper seized but the cost was only a couple bucks more so I figured might as well add another "mod" to the list.

Thanks. I don’t think I have the sport brakes though. So I may still look into doing the fronts. Im not planning on replacing them until they go bad but I would like to have a plan for when they do.

I think I even have a pair of 4th gen sport calipers new sitting in my parts bin if you don't decide to do 5th gen. Depending on where you're at in KY I could drop them off for cheap, I go to Eastern KY often to camp.

Awesome I’ll keep that in mind. I’m in Frankfort so not that far from IN.
Wondering if the salt may be the problem.

I've replaced my front calipers on my 2005 about every two years, for the last 6 years. I'm looking to either find a Brembo kit or other aftermarket caliper for the fronts. I'm tired of replacing these calipers and rotors.

Is there much to mod to install 5th gen calipers?

0 modifications required, they bolt right on. The only thing you have to be concerned about is your wheels clearing the 5th gen calipers. My OEM sport rims cleared the 5th gen calipers just fine, not sure about the other rims though.

Interesting that's probably why the 5th gen TRD pro wheels have an offset. Maybe that will be the push to pull the trigger on new rims.

Started this thread to see if I really needed to replace mine with 5th gen. It’s cool that it’s helping others get more information as well. Guess I’ll be getting parts together to do the swap on mine.
