    Hey Guys,

New to the 4runner forum. I live in Sac and have a 4th gen. I recently purchased an eibach kit and jba UCAs and am looking at having them installed a local shop. Also have tires and 5th gen wheels to put on. I have gotten quotes from hunters 4x4, stellarbuilt, and califab. They all quoted me over 1k for install and alignment. Does this seem normal/reasonable? Seems expensive to me...but maybe I'm just being cheap?

Still considering doing the work myself, but I don't currently have all the tools needed.

Do you all have any recommendations for other shops that might be more reasonable in the area?

Thanks in advance for your help!

If I can give you any advice, it'd be look at videos and make sure you do the rears yourself. The fronts with the ucas and the alignment should cost you around 800 that way

Welcome.... You can also reach out to MUSSO offroad (Folsom area)... No idea on their quality/price. Just another shop to get a quote from. I have a feeling they may be on the high side though. Just for reference, I am not a shop, just a guy who does side work out of my garage and I usually charge $200 per corner (2.5hr per corner @ $80/hr) on these things. (also, I cant do alignments so they have to go in after me)

My experience here in the bay area is labor rates are up around $180 per hour. Since a couple of members above have offered to help out, that would be a great way to meet some people and recycle some adult beverages.

Going to Crystal Mine Friday, near Verdi, probably returning home via the dirt route (with stops to look for other shiny rocks). I'm actually leaving tomorrow and camping at Lagomarsino or Pah Rah Uplands petroglyphs, then making it to Crystal Mine around noon Friday. I'll be spending several hours digging; 4x4ing is not my main activity this trip, fair warning. (Almost) all are welcome.

180 is standard, I was busy all last week so I paid Walnut Creek Toyota to do a synthetic oil change and it was $120.

Replacing my steering rack involved winching the engine up about 2 inches and I think it wound up being like $3500. And that’s only because they decided not to disconnect the engine, which is what the service manual called for. That would’ve been like almost $7000. This way they saved me a shit ton of money.

Before I moved here, only places like Porsche dealers charged you that ridiculous amount for labor. But otherwise, people can’t afford to live in the cities where you need this kind of work.

Dog Valley, so-named because the first immigrants were surprised to find a large wild dog pack here, circa 1846.

My 7 year old is going to put them in a box for the next 10-20 years and I will be tripping over said box until I make her move out! Haha. Or put them in the garden/potted plants pots

None. Bone Stock. EXCEPT: Brushguard, tow hitch, both welded to the frame. It's good to have friends and a fully equipped garage!
    I see you've met my ex-wife.

She had "winfrey syndrome". Inflate up to 400 lbs, start using meth and drop down to 150, start using slightly less meth, and back up to 350.
