Anyone running Christmas Lights on their 4Runner roof tops this year? I picked up a set and will give a try.

I run them on my Tacoma. We just got a roof rack for the 4runner from victory 4x4, so we might throw some up it too.

I knew what to expect going in.

Very similar to the custom surfboard market.

Place your order, they give you an estimate, but ultimately it's done when it's done. There's just no use in getting all hot and bothered over it.

Plug your lights into the rear outlet and run them up to the roof rack.

My concern was the wire getting pinched in the rear lift gate.

Should be good. The weather stripping would prevent any pinching. Obviously you want to make sure a bulb or socket isn't in the way of the lift gate closure points, but the wire alone should be fine.

debating when to put them up. Too soon and im worried the garland and lights may fade and look bad by the time we get to Christmas. Dont want to do it too late considering we all need extra christmas cheer this year.

I do my Tacoma the day after thanksgiving. The 4runner will not be back home until the Sunday or Monday after thanksgiving. So I don't know when it will get done.

normally I don’t go this far but I have a roof rack now and a plug in so why not. That and we all need all the cheer to get through the rest of this year.
