Looking to do some mods to my rig. Need help and suggestions please!! I wanna black out the roof rails and front and rear valances. I’ve heard of powder coating, rustoleum and plastidip for rails as well as wrapping. Any suggestions please!!!

I’ve been watching tutorials on Raptor liner maybe I’ll try that for the roof rails. Thanks

Ordered my raptor liner kit Sunday, got it yesterday. I'll spray front and rear valance and roof rails this Friday. I've used raptor and rocket liner a lot in the past. Raptor is by far superior imho. T20180926_162934.jpg

4 liter kit, with gun and U-pol promoter. I wont need probably but a bottle with several coats, but I have other ideas ;)

Lol... I'll take some pics for sure. Maybe even do a vid. Imho, getting a few of the parts and pieces BLACKED OUT , is a far FAR better look. Just me, but the blacked out stuff looks WAY better. I'm stoked about the valances for sure , but really really wanna see the roof rails black. Sounds silly, but I feel it will complement the over all look really tits

I blacked out the rack rails on mine, took them to get powder coated for $40 total. Looks awesome. I would not suggest paint, powder coat is the only way to go to hold up over time, otherwise you'll have chipping/fading over time.

That looks awesome!! So you would suggest powder coating rather than line x ? I figured the line x would hold up but not sure just trying to figure out the best choice to go with

great choice going for powder. roni, linex is some awesome stuff, its textured, so I gives a little grip(dry). how tuff is it? well I can tell you this much. a car hit my rock slider after being linexd. let's just say poor college girls car. only a paint scuff transfer. (her car; my slider). also hit a couple boulders with front sso and sliders with no issues. its some tuff stuff. a little excessive for rails, maybe, would look nice tho.

Went the least expensive route on our rack and valances. Plastidipped them. Been a good month and so far so good. Not perfect, but not bad either. Looks much better.4r.jpg 4r4.jpg 4r3.jpg 4r2.jpg

The powder coat will last the longest, if not forever. Of course any chips in it will start to break down. The metal is normally aluminum on the rails. It’s super cheap to powder coat. If your in Utah contact extreme powder coat. They are good

HOLY balls !!!! that looks fucking great !!!!... nicely done. That looks dope as shit. I love it.
Im right in the middle of spraying mine meow, as i type. Im waiting for the UPOL promoter to dry, tape up/cover the front, and ill be mixing and spraying. The valances are very weak. The slightest scuff job, (and im using 220grit) and its marked to all hell. Point of no return for sure.

    20180928_124019.jpg 20180928_114614.jpg

And, i know homeboy up there is all up on the powder coat, which, is awesome. His rig looks beyond wicked. And, sure, Ya, it should last longer, but, on these FRAIL ass pieces we are all doing, hell, the plastic itself is weak as shit, i dont feel like you need bomb proof,.. thats just me. And, touch up work, with plasti is wicked easy. Just shoot the fucker again in time, or as needed and your done. I think you did more than fine for the little peices of plastic we all want done. It looks great imho. And, you got that sense, of doing it yourself. So, theres that.
Im going middle of the road (between plasti and powder coat) and doing liner. Mostly, because im familure with it. Ive used rocket liner and raptor liner a lot in the past, in my big big car audio builds, and RAPTOR liner is a better product, if anyone goes this route, i highly recommend RAPTOR liner over anything that i myself have used. Its cheap, and pretty easy. And, i feel, this finish will look rad (god i hope so lol), be pretty rugged, and suite me and my needs just fine.

Welp, heres to trashing a 2018 valance lol, ... stay tuned for some finished pics.

EDIT- just wanna say, the roof rails turned BLACK, looks 400 times better than the silver,.. imho. SOOOoooooo much gooder.

LOL,,,.. love me some SUPER TOOPERS... went to the second one, opening night LOL. And already watched it 4 times. hahahahah ;)

Meh,.. if you knew how it came outta the gun, you would be worried either mate. Its thick. No real fine mist leaving. All will be well my man. Trust me :) In fact, i way way over taped/covered for what im doing. For real. It is not misty, fine shit comin from this nozzle.

First, quick coat. I EFFIN LOVE IT. I shot it at 70-80 psi. From past experiance, around this pressure, gave me the texture i want. It worked.
(a lower psi will yeild you a "chunkier, more aggressive texture, go up, and it gets to a "finer" texture" , i like around 70-80. Its got texture, but doesnt rip your skin off, if you brush against it or what have you)
