I need to find a 2ohm 8" woofer for my 07 4runner w/ JBL factory stereo. Any good $50 woofers that work ?

Have you tried adding a 4 Ohm resistor to a 4 Ohm woofer?
Not sure which side , I'm thinking the positive side to make any 4 Ohm woofer into a 2 Ohm load.

Did a quick google search and chose this one was the cheapest. 2ohm must mean it’s a dual voice coil sub.4AD83B07-853B-43B6-8B7C-3E04CAD6BFAE.jpg

Little update on the skar audio speaker I posted. Honestly sounds fantastic, mainly for the $35 it was. I’ll do an install video or something here soon because I have to do it to my truck now too. Only difference from the normal removal of the back braces to add depth is I used the grill spacer as a speaker spacer so it is installed before the speaker instead of after.

I think I'll need to replace mine soon. Any idea the wattage the JBL system is putting out?

EDIT: Found it by searching TIS. The sub is 1.2 ohms and 65W.

@GalacticOwl Did you hook that 8" icker directly to the factory wires and amp? Or did you run a new bigger amp? Also, how does it sound compared to stock?

Mine just blew out last night and my goal was to replace it with a factory speaker... I am old and it is too loud... lol! But they do not seem to be readily available except for used or aftermarket Chinese.

    Thank you for your help!

Yeah, it's just running off the factory amp. It defintely sounds better than the factory sub did but I wouldn't say it's any louder.

Sorry, haven’t checked in in a while. That speaker worked well. You have to trim stuff in the back of the factory box due to the magnet being bigger but it wasn’t really all that hard. I did this in both my mothers 4runner and my own Although I am not using it anymore. I honestly couldn’t stand the factory amp stuff powering all of the truck. Sounded like garbage compared to a base aftermarket radio. So I rewired all my door speakers and put in an aftermarket head unit. I have to say, the factory jbl speakers sound amazing even compared to aftermarket speakers. Only running the 4 doors(6 speakers) at the moment but I am wired up for my sub. Just been lazy. If anyone is in Chattanooga area and wants that speaker for free just let me know
Edit: to add, just to inform. You do have to cut the factory wire harness where it connects to the speaker and put regular female speaker adapters on it.

Is it obvious which wires connect where? If not, can you provide a little help - newbie on wiring car speakers.

Page 2 gives the wire colors from the head unit to the speakers.

If you're asking about the literal connections in the car itself:
-all 4 door speakers are behind the door trim, youtube is your friend on how to remove
-the headunit you have to remove the center console and front HVAC trim panel to get behind, again youtube is your friend for videos

Sorry, I was not specific enough. When replacing the factory sub on the JBL Synthesis system, with no changes to anything else, how do you wire the new sub?

I just picked up a Rockford Fosgate 8" 2ohm shallow woofer. I'm assuming i'll have to cut off the OEM connector and like hard-wire the leads into the new sub? Anyone have some insight into that process?

How did that Rockford Fosgate sub workout with the stock amp? I'm deciding between the Fosgate and the Pioneer TS-A2000LD2.

Works fine, an upgrade from stock for sure but doesn’t thump with the stock amp powering it. I’m definitely happy with the purchase of the RF 8”.
