What would the t4r community recommend for rotors and pads?

Only fits up to 91 4Runners according to what I see. 92 to 95 must be a bit different. Great price for the kit though.

I have not had good luck with Toyota or NAPA brake parts, both brands I warped the rotors. The last 3 or 4 brake sets I have installed have been EBC rotors and EBC Greenstuff pads and I have been very happy.

Scotty Kilmer on Youtube recommends Akebono brake pads which I understand is the brand Toyota partly owns & puts on their new vehicles. I have had several 4runners and I think I put Hayes pads on once with good results but last spring I went with the Akebono pads on another 4runner and so far no dust or noise. I will probably stay with Akebono on all my vehicles in the future.....even my Ford F150.

Power Stop Evolution: drilled and slotted zinc-plated-rotors with Z36 carbon-fiber ceramic pads. The 1991 model year at middle of the year changes and the rotors are thicker and the calipers have a wider notch with larger pistons in them. I upgraded both my son's 1990 and my early 1991 4runner to the thicker rotors and wider calipers with larger pistons and these PowerStop brake kits are the best. The brake pads are the same for the pre and post mid 1991 model year vehicles. The ability to skid the Cooper Discovery AT³ 31 x 10.50R -15's takes very little pedal pressure and the modulation is very good.

I put these on my wifes 2002 Odyssey and they made all the difference in brake performance as this minivan likes to keep rolling with its low profile tires. Brake pad replacement beds in very quickly with the slotted rotors. I had gone through a set of pads before we replaced this vehicle and the replacements and performance never faltered. Based on this experience I was glad RockAuto had the kits for the 1990 and 1991 as rotor and pad kits. They were not offered the last time I took a look. But eBay or Amazon might show some options.
