I just bought a 1998 4Runner Manual and am curious if the Automatics and Manuals had different differential gear ratios?

    I remember something about 4.30(auto) vs 4.10(manual).

Not 100% on that but something for you to start searching about.

options for differential that everyone talks about, 4.10 and 4.30. best I tell if you have VZN(v6) r150f(manual) the 4.10 was all that was available. the 4.30 is usually on the VZN(v6) A340(auto) SR5 with 265/70R16 tire, and is optional on the VZN with A340 Limited. however if you have an RZN(4cyl) with the w59(manual) the gear ratio available was 4.55 with the 265/70r16 tire
