I've read many threads and posts that suggest the raptor lights, as they look great.

I watched the install video, and they have a fuse piggyback to power it from the box near steering column/pedals.

They don't put the cover back on the fuse box....I assume bc the jumper is in the way.

Has anyone figured a better way, where the fuses can still be covered?

    Notch the lid.

I have heard more often time than not, craptor lights cause issues when tapping from that circuit and most of them fail pretty quickly.

to each is own, its your rig but im not a fan of raptor lights. If you do it, buy quality lights. As for taping it into the fuse box by the pedals, Ive done that to power my lighting control panel. No issues at all.

Just got a response from seller on the lumen output......had no idea these were purely aesthetic. Not for me then.

I guess its back to a light bar, but mounted behind the grill seems silly. I don't want light reflecting, or any shadows.

Do quality raptor lights exists? When I paid 60 bucks to a US seller I thought its quality. But failed after few months. I went above and beyond adding a relay wire harness and a dash switch. What a waste of money and time.
After this happen to me I started looking in detail when I see raptor lights, way too many seem to have burnt LEDs in their raptor lights.

I removed mine when 1 raptor light was completely failed. (Edit 99%, 1 bulb at the corner working, LOL)

Prove it. I'll show you as many or more that suggest raptor lights are dumb and only cause problems.

    search function "raptor light"

Yet you agree there are "as many".....not sure where your going.

I guess I didn't see the negative comments. As I posted, they aren't a good source of actual lighting, and that is what I'm after. Night driving is downright dangerous where I live.

Raptor lights are like the designated hitter in baseball. It should be outlawed and anyone who disagrees should be imprisoned in Guantanamo.

I tapped mine directly into the driver's front running light wire. Brown one if I recall. Works like a charm. Only comes on when I switch on lights.

Shadows from behind grill light is only visible under the bumper in my case. View inside the vehicle doesn't seem to show the shadows. Here's some testing at a local football field parking lot.

Amazon buy, two years and still going strong. Super bright, can almost drive at night with them.

    54A2BF85-8957-41A6-9856-F37FBACCAD2E.jpg

Serves a specific purpose and only turned on during inclement weather for extra visibility.

…and on some trail rides, just to piss off naysayers :D

    Good news for OP.

I removed my quad high beams and put back DRL bulbs. No more raptor lights for me. Thank you. :D

For every raptor light success story there are three failures from it. Some have quite a horror story behind them.

I gotta whole heartedly disagree here. When people feel like they got burned they want to vent and tell their story. When something just works like it should then people aren't really going to speak up. People report more on bad experiences.

So you're going to get a lot of stories about how they don't work. And very few stories about those that do work. It's just an easy bone headed install that it just works and no one is ever going to talk about their success story because it's such a simple easy install and everyone has em its not really worth talking about.

I see so many raptor lights here in the bay area. Practically every taco has them, a lot of the 4runners and now a lot of other vehicles like rav 4's, explorers, rangers etc etc etc. They're everywhere here. Lights shining. Most work. But its cheap Chinese products so some don't.

    This is very true.
It all depends on how it’s wired to your system.
I said it more than once, these electrical systems are very sensitive to “extra” electrical load placed on them. You can’t just grab a feed and throw more load on them. One has to be selective as to which circuits are used.
Wrong circuit will cause issues on the truck. Correct circuit will work without causing issues.
