Since the move to Arizona I have been taking short daily exploration trips. My 4runner is stock, OR Premium and still using the stock tires that came with it. I will be changing them to a better off-road tire. Yesterday's trip was to the top of the mountain, about 9,500 ft elevation to see the Ramsey Vista Campground. If I remember correctly it was a 5 mile dirt/gravel road to the top with many places both hands needed to stay on the steering wheel instead of taking photos. :)

Here are some photos of the trip. Downhill was in low-4x4, and 1st and 2nd gear, 2-7 mph.

Not really. At the time the dashboard notice came on I had been going in S2 with no issues. I did what the computer told me to do just because I was unfamiliar with the 4Runner.
