Possible knockoff oil drain plug gasket?

    Since you have a steel pan, it's OK to use copper washers like I posted.

    Here is a photo of a fake washer after it came off the car. You can see how the blue (plastic?) coating has separated from the washer - that doesn't happen with the real Toyota washer!

    I have no clue about the knockoff situation but I did an oil change on a Kicks recently and what was on there was some soft copper washer that was crushed flat and was stuck on there. I was able to pull of pieces with plier but couldn't get the rest off at all.

    Could it have been the "problem solver" at work? Carvana did the change last so wondering if it was from them or just something done farther back and reused.

    I ended up swapping the drain bolt with a spare lying around.
