This sounds like so much fun! Unfortunately, I have a fishing trip every May at this time. Of course, I'm looking forward to hanging out with my family! I just wish the dates didn't overlap.

    Have fun!

Might not be a possibility but being set up camp by a lake without a large crowd sound's wayyyy better

Haha! They don't really have flash floods there.
Anywho, all who wanna avoid the redonkulus expo camping fee are welcome to camp at the lake with us. I've heard that the camping is more like festival camping than real camping.

Do you need to reserve a spot by the lake in advance?

    I'm scared of flash floods

It's all of 12.7 miles from my driveway. With the amount I usually blow on fuel & on-site camping in Flagstaff, I'm doing the full blown Overland Experience Package at MtnWest & still saving a couple hundred bucks. Unlike Flagstaff though, there's no camping in a mature pine forest on site, it's reclaimed prairie so I need to get my awning installed. If anyone else is definitely going to buy the Overland Experience, PM me before you do, I have away of saving you about $40, but I can't just post it & you don't remember where you got it. :spy:

Festival camping isn't all that bad with the overlanding crowd. There are strict quiet hours overnight, no raging parties during the day & everyone pretty much keeps to themselves. Aside from 2-3 people per hour checking out my camping rig, but not actually bothering me, it was really rather enjoyable.

One piece of advice for anyone attending, bring your bicycle. Camping &/or daily parking is going to be a very long walk & with so many vendors it's the only way you'll have a chance of seeing everything.

I agree with "200% turned off by the idea of spending a weekend surrounded by and camping with that many" but I have to experience it once and having friends in your camp area with you make it fun. Plus I've learned to play Liars Dice in some pretty quiet campgrounds ;)

Just now seeing this.... Looks like it's this weekend just down the road from me... I'm gonna have to check it out for sure. Bummer thing is that it is in town and not in the hills (no camping).

I think you guys are looking at the wrong shows. Flagstaff is Expo 2020 West,in May. Loveland,CO is Expo 2020 Mountain West in August. There is also one in Southern Cal. in March. Same group I believe but only over a weekend. I hope that helps.

I would think no way this event happens. They just cancelled the Olympics in Tokyo. Cancelling stuff that is still 4+ months away tells me they know this virus stuff is likely to drag out much longer.

    Original date for the Olympics
    July 24, 2020 – August 9, 2020

It's clearly gonna be months not weeks. China is barely starting to back to normal and its been 4 months.
Im a nurse, we're already seeing increases in respiratory failure due to COVID infections. It's just gonna get worse for a while. Stay safe, stay home.

Just my opin and only been to China once, but I don't believe for a second they are starting back to normal. Don't believe the news you hear coming out of China. Their news is heavily controlled by the gov. Websites like google and wikipedia are banned for a reason. Not some conspiracy junk, just a bit of truth here.

It's interesting they are rescheduling the Expo for late July. I hope it goes off, because it would mean America is getting back to important business at hand, which is living our lives as we want. We shall see.

Its funny because the animal that was eaten and started all of this, the Pangolin (pictured above), is already illegal to eat. All eight Pangolin species are protected under national and international laws (source: worldwildlife.org). So this law means nothing in reaction to the Coronavirus outbreak, they just want to look good like they are doing something.
