All 3 of the dealers we visited before we found the one we wanted, are taking orders with $1000 down.

This is what worked for us and the only real reason we could afford the one we just bought.

    Numbers worked out like this
    - paid 30,400 in July of 18 for a 19 Honda CRV
    - dealer gave us 28,200 for the CRV in trade (CRV was paid off)
    - paid MSRP for the SR5 so only had to finance just over 12k

May I ask about how long it took to receive your 2022 car?
I place an order on 8/14, it said it was built in September, and arrived at the Portland port 10/6. Now I'm just waiting for it to be delivered to the dealership, and I asked them and they don't know exactly when.

So we ordered a 2021 (2022 weren't available yet) like the very last week of April. Built it online. Paid our fee. I'd say around June they called us saying they couldn't find a 2021 with the sliding cargo deck without the moon roof. I agreed to a moon roof even though I could less about moon roofs. Few weeks later he called back and said finding a 2021 would take at least 8 months to a year. Chip shortage...blah blah. I could get a 2022 by September. (2022's weren't even on the Toyota website yet so we sort of ordered blindly not knowing if much changed between the 21 and 22 models. (If they told me the Lunar Green or Green were an option I would have ordered a different color) So we ordered the 2022 and received the car last Thursday. They definitely didn't build my car. They just found one that matched what I wanted. My dealer didn't know why. They acted like I was lucky to even get my hands on a 4runner when I did. I'm sure that was probably sale scare-tactic. We needed another automobile because our old jeep finally bit the dust. So we went through with it. I'm not sure how long mine sat in the Port. I'm thinking maybe about 3 of 4 weeks it was in the US before we could pick it up.

I’m not sure they are building any ones specific request. While at the dealership for service on my wife’s car, I talked to my salesman. Looks like I went from your 4Runner is in f status, to we are getting an allocation of 4runners and are trying to trade for a green one with another dealership. When I requested my 2017 Tacoma, it was give us a month, maybe 2. Then got a vin #, then a month or so later, my truck arrived on the car carrier.

Gosh I am so thankful. I was able to order mine exactly to the t and get an allocation just before all the shizzo hit the fan. Two or three weeks later I would be Sol.

I put a deposit back in august, and I’m willing to wait to get what I want, come spring time I may be a little more flexible with what I’ll take.

I would keep trying to get what you want between now and spring. The season goes so fast and boom not taking any orders.

I ordered mine in March below MSRP which I am grateful. They asked me to $2k deposit which did gladly to show I was serious. Then two weeks later it hit officially there allocation.

A few weeks later the Chip nonsense really took off but I was told Toyota had enough in Japan for the the 4R. I took delivery June. I had my salesman park it inside overnight because people were driving by trying to see the three that this dealer got allocated and delivered.
I guess a blessing in disguise.

yeah all dealers in Ohio/Penn/Wv I spoke with the past weeks said ordering was a no-go and i would get to play luck of the draw and get close to what i wanted on ones in transit or allocated to them... needless to say I lucked into one that met most of my wants and was in transit (ETA 01/NOV)... hopefully in a few years when this craziness dies down ordering will become realistic again...

Congrats- What part of Ohio are you buying from? One on mine is in the Cinni area, but technically northern KY.

I received updates today. Looking at 11/3-11/8 on one and 11/10-11-15 on the other. Carvana is picking up my son's car on 11/1 so we will have a real wheel shortage.

yeah i actually already traded my other SUV in to a dealer in WV that paid be more than book for it... My new 4runner is up in NW ohio...

Nobody locally in my south eastern ohio area could not get me close to what I wanted options wise and the Cinci folks were helpful but all of their cars were already spoken for...

FYI... the folks in the Marietta and Parkersburg area were less then helpful and kept pushing 4runners or even other vehicles that they had and couldnt sell... plus when i let them know i found a vehicle on my own they were downright rude and I'm glad they showed their true colors... guess I will be taking my after the sale business to other dealers near columbus etc...

I’m in SoCal and wanted the TRD Off Road Premium in Lunar Rock. Every dealer told me it was basically impossible and no one would order one cause it takes up an allocation spot. I called 20 dealers in all different states and found one in KY that was more than happy to order exactly what I wanted. They told me they welcome any other business and the guy said he’s always wanted to sell a car to someone in CA. Can’t wait to do a cross country trip to bring it back to SoCal! Don’t give up on what you want and don’t settle.

Longo Toyota in El Monte does it msrp, I put my order in 2 or 3 weeks ago and was told 4 months but they emailed me my vin saying it will arrive in 2 to 3 weeks.

If you are set in buying out of state, make sure you get the mso for the ca dmv. I helped my friend purchase her 4runner from Phoenix and we live in socal and she had to jump thru a few hoops mainly due to everyone's lack of knowledge. You can pm me if you need help with that

Congratulations on your order. If you decide not to drive it back check out Reliable Carriers that has covered semi transport for classic cars. I had some friends use them with great success.

I had contacted them and they said no :( Had even called Phoenix dealers and they had put a stop on selling to out of state customers. I think it changes day by day and based on inventory. All good, though. Deposit and order placed. Just the waiting game now.
Thanks for the info… I’ll be sure to look into that and message if I have any other questions :)

Just talked to a sales rep at Longo Toyota and He said Longo is still taking the order for 4runners (MSRP price) on the most model except TRD PRO. The waiting period time for TRD PRO is about a year at Longo Toyota.:amen::amen:

Toyota is pushing back the new Gen due to the high demand yet for the old Gen. lol.

Just joking but I would not be surprised if they hold off on the new Gen with everything going on with the wait times for the old Gen plus there are a lot of people still buying them.

There's a pretty knowledgeable guy on the other forum who has insider connections and he said so far they only have a clay mold of the 6tb gen and it will be pushed back until 2024 and it's most likely going to be built in Mexico, take it all with a grain of salt

i'll provide some thoughts on this. if you're supposed to be releasing a vehicle for the 2023 model year, most of the design/prod should already be complete at this point. they just redid the tundra and LC. seems to me the sequoia would be next, since it will probably be a slightly modified version of the tundra platform. TFL caught a camouflaged toyota, which appears to be the sequoia from the size.

seems to me the sequoia will be 2023 and 4R in sometime in 2024/25, along with the tacoma around that time period.

    just my 2 cents.

I’m brand new here from TacomaWorld. We have a TRD OR Lunar Rock on the way. I’m assuming MSRP at this point is considered a good deal due to the demand. Is that safe to assume? This particular dealer has added a $900 market markup that they’re adding to all new vehicles, but it includes window tinting and all weather mats so it doesn’t sound too bad. I’m just curious if anyone has had any success in negotiating price or some cheaper add-ons.

MSRP is good if your getting the inflated trade in value.

Yes, I am getting about $1,000 less than what I paid for my ‘18 Tacoma brand new. It has around 55k miles on it so I figure that’s a pretty good deal.
