Cost-cutting from shock-mounted bump stops to donut spares is one thing, and honestly could be it's own thread, but something especially egregious has occurred.

I got to try Chik-fil-A's "improved" waffle fries today and...

I knew it wasn't going to be good going in, but even then...

This has probably been stated multiple times in this thread but, if you can't find 'em, grind 'em. Ammirite. Hope that helps.indeedy.

I actually bought that package of Grogu's from Amazon I posted a long time ago and wrote "4runners.com" on the bottoms with a sharpie. Have only given one to my buddy that bought a Pro last year, keep forgetting about them. A little worried the sharpie will bleed onto their paint and piss them off if I leave it on their hood

If we must be pedantic, the 4Runner is just a BJ Prado.

I've got a new one. The kiddo has been begging to start playing minecraft, which I've been putting off because I don't want them addicted to video games.

I finally caved tonight, with the caveat that game time will be limited.

Apparently to play SINGLE PLAYER, you have to log into a Microsoft account. It appears that you can join an online MULTIPLAYER server without logging in. Seems a bit backwards to me but whatever, I don't want them playing multi-player so I try to log them in to start a single player session.

After logging into a Microsoft account, it FORCES you to add an additional email or phone number to "prove it's really you".

Now, if you can't tell from the CAPTIONING, this is really grinding my gears. I could be wrong, but it appears to me that this is a blatant attempt to steal as much data as possible from people just to play the single player version of an application (that I've already paid for to download by the way) - an application specifically targeted at children. Data that they will use and/or sell so that other links can be drawn between the accounts you hold and how that could be used to manipulate you through targeted advertising.

I hate what the digital world has become. I have refused to provide alternative credentials as of yet, because I'm getting tired of maintaining the vast number of burner email addresses and telephone numbers I use to stick it to the man. Vive la révolution

Mine as well, but not in a data collection sense. I know datasets are only as useful as the information they contain, which is why I switch it up every so often. It's just exhausting, all to try to achieve the objective of having some sense of privacy.

I get that posting online to a forum like this there should be relative little sense of privacy, but to play single player on an app you've already paid for? They've got some testicular fortitude. Guess I'll be adding to my burners list

    Good on ya'. Stay strong!
My wife's child is "scarred" because she was never allowed Pokemon something or other. She (wife) says "you can get as many as you want now"

I try to keep my digital footprint minimal too. No FB, no Twitter/X. Don't know how to get on TikTok. (I like to call it TicTac in public to embarrass the kids) No digital wallet, no Zelle etc.

    Vive la révolution!

Try using the same burner for random and disparate shit.
Minecraft, adult lingerie, puffalumps, technical writing, polyamory, and rugby and see what happens...

Lol, I've thought about documenting all of the links myself but I'm too lazy. It is interesting to see a flurry of spam/phishing/smishing emails or texts/calls to a burner you just gave out a week or so beforehand. You start to get a sense of what each company does with your information.

Sir, with all due respect, this is a "grinds my gears" thread, not a "gets my gears rollin" thread

That being said, I'm gonna look that up in due diligence ;)

My husband thinks I’m weird for having so many burner/email accounts. I also have 2 phones, 4 phone numbers because I hate businesses having my personal/private number.
