Off-road capability?

This one looks great, BUT 240,000 miles and working sunroof. The sunroof has a factory cover so I don't see why you would prefer not to have it. It's a 3rd Gen 4Runner so it's just getting broken in at those miles.

What size tires are you using?

You'll be proud of me I dropped down to 18psi for off roading Saturday and Sunday. Baby steps.

I figure Milwaukee has batteries figured out. I've been real impressed with the charge life. I bought the combo tree saw and chainsaw w/ 2 batteries and 2 chargers. I'm still on my original charge on the 2nd battery since... (looked at order history) September!

Didn't really pay attention to when I switched batteries though.

Granted I really only use it for cutting down trees on the trail but still that's pretty amazing.

Other used vehicles to look at is the Lexus 460 & 470.
These are re-badged luxury Toyota Landcruisers and Prados.

I had 2 of them on a trail ride Saturday. They did fine.

Good call. The GX is a Prado/4Runner, and the LX is a full size Landcruiser/trail limo.

 

My tires are 255/85/16

Being Cooper ST Maxx, they only measure at 32.8" (33s), yet my spare is a Toyo M/T in the same size and measures at 33.5"

They're E load which is why I'm not worried about popping a bead; are you running a lower load range?

Pretty badass to hear about the chainsaw and battery use! Other things have taken priority which is why I haven't added more tools lately. In fact, you mentioning an LC is kind of funny because.....tomorrow I may be getting an 80 series Landcruiser

 

About the same size as my LT Geolandar MT's - 32.9. I'll give 15psi a try next time.

You should be catching some great traction on snow/mud better than I do.

Mine really start to open up somewhere around 15. I usually start at 20, and lower to 15 if it gets hairy. I would probably run around 15-ish all day, but we have to jump on paved roads between sections of trail up here.

 

I have the same tires as @DRobs , except they're 295's. They look almost flat at 10.

Keep in mind, a 5th gen is much heavier than a 3rd gen.

 

Heavier rigs than us run the same PSI; in fact I'm the only 3G4R in our group.

 

This is what mine look like at around 8 PSI if I recall. This just seems low to me for anything besides rock crawling.

I'm curious because I have a snow wheeling trip coming up, and I want to drop more than usual, but don't want to mess around with losing a bead.

 

I would think that the 1 1/2" in clearance lost would be more important than the last bit of footprint gained from the extreme low pressure.

 

I agree. I usually run around 20, and lower it if maximum flotation is needed. I have a trip coming up where flotation will probably be more important than clearance. I'm just curious if this is too low. It just seems really low to me.

Maybe, but you'll have superior capability. And, you can fit 35's or 37's without a BMC.
