I'm looking at picking up one of these OEM Toyota rubber liners/mats for my 2021 5 seater 4Runner.

My dad has one in his 2018 5 seater. One of his main complaints with it was that when you place heavier items onto it and then try and pull them out that the rubber cargo liner comes with the item and does not stay in place.

I called Toyota to find out if the newer liners anchor to the vehicle better but they were not sure.

Does anyone here have a newer Toyota cargo liner? Does it anchor to the tie down point in the back or does it have those rubber spikes on the back side to keep it anchored to the carpet?

my 2020 limited (three row) came with one and it has the same problem. not designed to stick to the carpet or attach to anything.

I have the Husky Liner. Much better, stays in place and covers the most aft corners as well.

toyota's cargo liner is complete garbage, slides around like toboggan on carpet.

I grabbed a pkg of 2" velcro at Wally world, put a piece at each corner area and it worked great. I now have my Canvasback liner there, and it doesn't move at all.

I riveted mine in place. I was smart about it though, I waterproofed each rivet with a glob of roofing tar, and installed knife-tape with pull tabs under the carpet in case I need to get under there (the sawdust, aluminum powder, and old fertilizer I used for insulation might need looked at in ten years or so). Saved a lot of money too, reused the shiny chrome D-rings for the knife-tape handles... genius, I know!

Anyhow once my handwoven, cattail reed bench seats are fully dried and the mosquitoes are finished hatching, I will post up pics.

In the meantime, I'm looking for a good brand of glitter and confetti to cover the whole stock mat, and maybe the windows a bit. That windshield lacks pizazz!

Seriously though, if you feel a little nutty and want to go over the top... you can DIY an amazing looking one out of multiple materials, exactly how you want it, if you don't mind getting crafty.
Rubber sheeting is kinda pricey on shamazon, but occasionally the gasket-thin stuff can be found on sale, on ebay, shamazon, and various online stores (McMaster Carr, Xometry, Makerstore, MiSumi, etc.) have either that (EPDM, SBR, neoprene etc.) or something even better.

Artist canvas can be had for cheaper than untreated canvas, if you shop the online hobby supply stores. My girlfriend just bought 10 yards x 60" for $40, and it's pretty durable stuff, if not as stout as a Canvasback (until you treat it!).

While it might not be the OP's bag, I'd like to see more of these in 5th Gens, because I've seen what a few friends have done with their other vehicles over the years (chainmail, restaurant line-mats, kennel flooring, aluminum plate etc.) and when combined with a little artistic consideration, they can be so much better than what we have available pre-made, and as cheap or as lavish as you want them to be.

Funny you mention kennel flooring. With the disco, I had an SD rack, and used kennel/coop flooring to make a base. This was standard practice for Rover folks.:)

I think that's where the guy got his flooring from, was his previous roof rack on a big van that he would sleep rough on... thinking of adding some to my own, actually!

Hey, sometimes ya need to either weld a bit together, or cut a bit off, when you have no normal means of doing so lol

It does drive me nuts, but as you guessed it does a fine job of holding fluids... which has come in very handy several times lately.
I seriously hate HEB and all it stands for, not at all off topic I promise lol...

Keep about 100lbs of recovery gear on one side of the OEM mat. The mat won't move around.

Looks like Husky does not yet list a cargo liner for 2021. Has anyone found?

Ended up picking up a Toyota cargo liner and using velcro to secure it. Works great!
