    Hello.

    I have a 2020 TRD pro - halogen. I want to upgrade to OEM Bi-LED. I need harnesses, correct?

    If so, where do I get them?

    Thanks in advance!

    Cant answer for the converter wire part since I did not change from halogen housing to bi-LED housing.

    But wanted to ask if you have considered swapping halogen bulbs to LEDs? The reason to ask is;
    1) From what I see newer LED bulbs like GTR ultra 3 have beam pattern like LED housing and have life time warranty.
    2) If any of the bulbs fail the halogen housing is serviceable vs bi-led housing you need to buy a new housing if a bulb fails.
    3) I dislike the bi-led highbeam. It is useless to me and I have to run auxiliary lights to have a usable highbeam light output.

    Edit;
    For the existing bi-LED owners the converter wire harness is a life saver. I was able to get a trigger wire to turn on auxiliary lights when the highbeams are turned on. I absolutely love the wire I purchased. It was OEM like (or better) quality.

    It seems most folks say putting an LED bulb in a halogen housing is a bad idea. I'm not sure about this?

    Your point #2 makes sense.

    If I get a 2021 model, it will have LED lows and halogen highs - maybe this is the best case senario. I still don't know if 2021 is a plug and play or if I need an adapter?

    I can buy a 2021 headlight and a 2024 unit as well. Trying to decide which is best and how they will plug in.

    I'm someone absolutly deny that as long as you buy a good LED bulb with good beam pattern. Here's a comparison from youtube halogen vs GTR ultra 3.
    upload_2025-9-9_11-9-15.png

    Me personally have used older GTR ultra 2 and the beam pattern was very impressive. I can imagine GTR ultra 3 would have even more improved now. Ever since I have experience few good LEDs on my vehicles and my friends vehicles. (Since I'm the one who install them on their vehicles.). Sadly I haven't got a chance to test GTR ultra3 personally.

    I think in 2021 certain trims still used reflector as highbeam and projector as low beam LED only. My 2021 TRD Pro came with both highbeam and low beam on the projector. When I try to use the reflector as an additional highbeam I did not like the pattern much. May be, maaay be... The reflector on the bi-leds may not be ideal as a highbeam. They are only meant for DRL only. But visually they look same, So I can't 100% say if its a good idea.

    Edit -
    If you are wondering what I currently use? I'm using much cheaper Hikari Titanova on one of my 4runners that came with halogens. They where $93.49 in Feb 2023 from Amazon. In my books bulbs improve with time. From what I see the GTR Ultra3 came in 2025 have better beam pattern than what I have now.But Hikari Titanova still have crazy light power, 2220lux vs halogen only got 725lux.

    I wouldn’t typically recommend tossing LED’s into a halogen housing in general but I would think it’s worth a shot as long as you’re aware of why and check to ensure it doesn’t blind other drivers.

    (I did entertain the idea of looking into swapping LEDs for the serviceable halogen units but haven’t bothered as I’d have to be a trailblazer)

    I have a 2020 TRD Pro.

    I bought 2023 bi LED lights on FB marketplace.

    Puppypunter and/or daveeasa made a harness for me and it arrived within 3 days.

    I plugged in the harnesses (5 minutes tops) and I have Quad high beams, DRLs and everything works perfectly!

    Thanks guys!!

    *****SOLD*****

    In case someone is still looking for a FBC Harness. I spoke with Dave about sending my unused one back and he suggested I post in here. I just copied and pasted from a for sell post I have in one of the Facebook groups.

    FBC Harness Solutions Quad Hi beam Plug and play harness for sale. Wound up not using and only taken out of the box for pics and you can see my dated pic using the box they came in. Cost was the same as now which is $150 and my shipping was $6. I'll do $125 shipped to the U.S. 48 states regular ground. It is used when you replace your older halogen headlights with the newer 4Runner factory LED headlights. Refer to his website if you need more info on the product.

    @Puppypunter I’ve got a used 2018 4Runner that came with Alpharex headlights and one died on me. Seeing 2023 OEM headlights on FB marketplace but read I needed a harness to use those on my 2018. I also heard there is the possibility of a harness that uses LED low beams and both halogen and LED high beams which is the best option.

    Do you make a harness that would work for this?

    Like to see advice from @Puppypunter;
    Do 2018 owners stop using drls if using low + high bi-led headlights?
    Maybe advisable only use low beams in projector housing and only use 9005 bulbs for drl & highbeam?

    I do! That is the most popular option. Get that extra high beam light :) I’ll shoot you a PM.

    The DRL is unchanged. If you install the 2022+ (or 2021 Pro) headlights on a 2018, the new headlights use the projector for both low and high beam. So it’s designed for that. There is a shutter inside that lifts for the high beams. The DRL housing on the new headlights is actually slightly different. So not as optimized for high beams as the old headlights. But if you use the quad-high-beam set up, you are using the halogens as supplementary added light to the LED high beam. So with the new headlights in a quad setup, the 9005 will still be DRL, but will also light up full brightness with the high beam from the LED. That make sense?

    Yes, the 22 is the bi-LEDs. You’d just need the harness to make them work.

    Thanks for covering these, Johnny.
    I had to shut down the store but I didn’t ever intend to leave this small group hanging. I’ve been fairly overwhelmed lately so the redundancy is nice, Johnny has a template so we build nearly identical harnesses.

    My point here is, there is no need to buy just to have an extra or in case you find headlights sometime later, just reach out and one of us will be able to build for you eventually.

    Also looking for a harness for I guess the bi-LED headlights (the seller wasn't sure what year it came off of, but I see three wires). Thanks, man!
