Just do like my buddy set a bear trap on the seat. They will be scared to death of how to release it.

If they don’t see it you took a bite out of crime.

I'd imagine any good aftermarket alarm with starter kill would prevent this, since it would prevent the car from starting without the alarm being deactivated.

Besides putting the remotes to sleep and keeping them in a Faraday box to prevent relay thefts I'm thinking of this. Not sure if they ship to the US but they do Canada. I like this better than putting screws through your real OBD connector. Of course Toyota wouldn't be thrilled about any OBD port modifications for warranty purposes but least you can remove it without a trace. Simple kill switch setup good but also constitutes a modification. A multilayered approach makes it that much harder to steal. You could even put the OBD port lock shown in above posts on the dummy plug to slow thieves down even more. 4Runner thefts are rampant in my city. My local dealer lost 2 last long weekend and they took 2 more from other parts of the city same day. Of course though after all that they can still drag it onto a flatbed.

It's crazy how there aren't many OBD lock options. Even crazier that it's this way to steal new vehicles.

I disable my key every night, so the relay theft is not what I'm worried about, it's the OBD style thefts.

My 2021 has a GPS with connected services so it'd be fairly easy to report it stolen and recover the truck, in theory anyway.

The club is a visual deterrent. If a thief wants to cut through the steering wheel and OBD it then nothing was going to stop them.
