Hello everyone. Just switched over from a 2008 Tundra to a 2015 4Runner SR5. Always loved Toyota vehicles and loving the 4Runner. Looking forward to slowly start adding some mods. Already switched all interior bulbs to led and looking for suggestions for the front headlights and fog lights. Any and all suggestions are welcome. Cheers!

    Welcome to the forum!

Upgrading to H9 bulbs seems to be the best headlight modification for the money.

For fogs, there are many options from drop in replacement bulbs to LED aftermarket replacements. Diode Dynamics is a popular option for this. I believe a few other manufacturers make fog upgrades as well.

I’d like to get something that’s brighter than stock lights but also that doesn’t blind the crap out of oncoming traffic. I live in northern Alberta....lots of wildlife, slick winter roads and heavy traffic on the highways, so the more I see at night, the better!

Good thinking! This is why the H9 is a good idea. It (theoretically) maintains the proper focus and cut-off.

Thanks! Maybe I’ll contact him to see what he recommends. We have lots of dark hours in the winter up here, so good lights are crucial.

I'll be installing H9s and Diode Dynamics SS3 Sport fogs Thursday. I'll post pics.

    Welcome!

Actually, H9s are the cheapest, and most logical upgrade for lowbeams by far... just make sure that you get standard H9 halogens without any glare caps on the tips (looks like graphite paint), and no colored tint- I bought the South Korean-made Hella H9s, and they're perfect.
If you want good, cheap LED fogs and don't mind them transitioning into a slightly bluish white towards the bottom of the cutoff (it's more white-ish where it meets the lowbeams and looks pretty good) then I suggest the Toyota LED fogs in blackout.
If you want substantially brighter fogs that will color match your H9 halogens, are DOT SAE certified and won't break the bank, definitely look into the Diode Dynamics SS3 Sport and Pro line... if you want the proper color and street legal pattern, get the Amber SAE Fog set, and then purchase the clear lenses- lots of pics and info around the site regarding this setup, and it looks great.
I'm running OEM LEDs until I get my bumper on, then my DD SS3 Pro Amber w/clear lenses will go on.
I also tried the Phillips XV-100 H11 Halogens, and they were okay, but burned out fast, and these H9s are brighter while likely lasting longer.

Thanks for the great info. I was thinking about going with the amber fog lights, actually, so it seems like the Diode Dynamics SS3 are the way to go. Is there much difference between the sport and pro versions? All I’ve heard so far is that the pros can be too bright for highway/road driving.

Thank you! Actually the previous owners of my 4Runner spent their Canadian winters down in your state. I think some of the dust I cleaned out of the nooks and crannies was from there! :D
