While visiting my son in Aurora, Co. over Thanksgiving some dick decided he wanted my 4 Runner more than I did. Sunday morning at 1:30 AM my daughter-in-law saw it parked in front of the house. When I got up at 5:30 it was gone. In addition to the vehicle, I lost a ton of belongings including all of my photography lights, all the survival equipment and recovery equipment that was in the vehicle.

Not sure how they got it. I still have the keys in my possession. From the tracks in the snow it looks like a vehicle drove up to the driver's side, one person got out and got into my locked vehicle and left with it.

20 day wait before insurance will act. I know that in the future I will add a club to all our vehicles. Don't know if that will completely solve the problem, but surely it will help.

If anyone sees a Silver 2017 4 Runner with a lift, SSO front bumper with winch in the Denver area, please notify the police.

Sorry to hear that. I did not think the 4Runner was a easy vehicle to steal.

Sorry to hear that Bill. I hope karma finds these a-holes and stomps them. I can't stand thieves! Just ridiculous how prevalent this is.

I am not sure how the Denver area compares to other cities but WOW, they are averaging 438 vehicles stolen per day??? That's crazy.

That was per month, per day is about 14-15, which makes more sense. Still a lot would be curious to see the list broken down by vehicles.

    That sucks sorry to hear!

As a reminder now that the winter cold is upon us, please don’t start your 4R and let it run in the driveway to warm up unless you have locked it with the other set of keys. Only takes a second for someone walking down your street to hop in and take off!!

Recovered wrecked. About 13,000 in damage. Most of the property gone, but the suspects left a bunch of their stuff, including items that appear to be from other thefts. Aurora Police Dept. response: "We really don't give a $hit". They didn't even bother to process the vehicle, get prints or take any evidence.

They told me they have too many stolen vehicles to be able to work them all. I told them that if they would work a few and catch the bastards that are stealing cars they might not have so many.

Don't know how they took it. There are no keys and the locks are not forced. There was evidence of other auto thefts in mine, including an owner's manual for a 2010 Honda Accord, a couple of garage door openers, a handicap placard and a radio face plate.

They only put about 200 miles on it. Looks like they where mostly living in it rather than driving it. The inside looks like a "crack whore was living there".

I went to Denver and hauled it back to my dealer. They have assured me that they will get it back just like it was.

I now have clubs for all of our cars. Don't know if the is stop a theft, but maybe it will help.

    Bill

The kind of club that goes on the steering wheel. I have the pistol, just have to be able to catch them in the act.:infantry:

I know the police are busy but it's crap like this that really irritate me. At least dust it for prints, how hard can that be. Them doing nothing makes you wonder if they are in on it. I know that is probably not the case but come on! Anyway, glad you got it back and hope you can get it back up to par without much expense on your part.

With the club they will just saw the steering wheel in half and remove it. But the visual appearance of it may make them look elsewhere. I hate theives!

As many know, my 4 Runner was stolen in Aurora, Co. on Nov.25. It was recovered about a week later in Englewood with 15,000 worth of damage. At the time of the recovery it contained a bunch of stuff that indicated various other thefts including other auto thefts.

On Dec. 10 I was notified that an item of my property that was in the 4 Runner at the time of theft had been recovered by Aurora Police in the possession of a convicted felon that was out on bond for various other felonies and was in possession of a 9mm and an AR15.

Fast forward to Dec 15. I was notified that more of my property had been recovered in the possession of 3 felons. This recovery was by the Douglas County SO and happened on Nov. 27, 2 days after my vehicle was taken.

The 3 that had possession of my stuff were in an Infiniti that had been stolen on Nov. 18th which leads me to believe that they were not the ones that actually took my car, but were connected with the people that did. Seems like there is a whole gang of people that are proficient at stealing cars working in the Denver area.

During the encounter with Douglas County deputies, the suspects fired at officers and were also throwing property out of the vehicle during a high speed chase. Deputies finally rammed the vehicle and stopped it at which time a gunfight ensued and 1 suspect was killed, one wounded and one arrested.

The suspect that was killed was out on bond for several other felonies including Aggravated Auto Theft.

Maybe there is at least a little justice in the world.

Not to familiar with parts of Aurora but mine was taken from a residential area on a cul'd sac. and was apparently targeted. Tracks in the snow look like someone drove up, let 1 person out and that person took the car.

    oh the list....!
sorry to hear, but glad you got it back. Hopefully the law/ Karma will catch up with these A-holes. Note to self: install disabling system in 4runner. Side bar- remember when the earlier Camry was a top 10 stolen car, and owner's insurance went up because of this unwanted fact?
