    Hello everyone,

    I'm looking at getting a 1st Gen 4Runner to build a trail rig out of pretty soon, just looking for a project I can wrench on and from what I've read these make a really good candidate.

    I owned an '86 Pickup when I was 16 and loved it, but I was a stupid kid and wanted something different...I wish I still had it :(. From what I've seen around on FB Marketplace and Craigslist most of these are around 3-5k some of them in really bad condition, are people actually buying these at that price? I'd obviously like to spend as little as possible on the initial purchase because I'm going to dump money into it with mods.

    I'd like an '85 for the Solid Axle in the front, but on the other hand an SAS sounds like a fun mod for an '86-'89 too.

    So what should I look to pay for something that has some rust, not is great condition but not destroyed either?
