Just picked up my 2001 Toyota 4Runner for $2K in excellent shape, rust free, and drip free. Seems to be a great rig and I look forward to educating myself about this vehicle on this website.

I'm just looking for some maintenance tips for:

    Timing belt needs replaced
    Drive belts need replaced
Entire suspension needs replacing(can't decide if I want to go OEM or add alittle lift)
Looking for tips on homemade bumpers front and rear
Would like to add alittle horsepower so I can do some towing more easily (nothing big, just snowmobiles and motorcycles)
Maybe increase in fuel economy(not a huge deal now, filled up yesterday for $20!)

That's about all my plans right now....I'm sure my list will expand after a couple hours on this website

Welcome man. It looks like you have a good understanding of the 4runner. Start with the maintenance first. If no record of timing belt job that would be were I would start. It will run any were from 500-1000 for everything. I would do the water pump thermostat cam seals and crank seal at the same time.

As for as shocks and a lift there are so many options. I would talk to the guys at toytec

Only other thing I will say is that if you plan on towing do the Trans cooler mod. It will save you if it fails in the Radiator aka pink milkshake.

Also consider the tundra brake upgrade. After all that you will be set for many many miles!

    Hope it helps out man.
