New member with 2000 4Runner Stuck in 4 Wheel Drive

Hi,
My 2000 4 Runner with automatic transmission has flashing 4 wheel drive green (4) and amber (1 center) lights on dash. I have tried cycling shift and push button switch several times.
It seems to be stuck in 4 wheel drive, is it OK to drive with flashing lights and what is the fix.

Is it the limited?Sounds like the switch is stuck really to me but I'm not there to see it.

if its flashing, it isn't actuated..

 

It is a Limited.
Switch seems to work as lights go out for about 10 seconds then back on flashing.
Drives and steers strange, very stiff.
