Brought home a new 2019 4Runner today. Nothing fancy, but compared to the 2005 GMC Yukon it replaced, it is wonderfully equipped.

I'll have to learn the lingo associated with 4Runners, lol.

Ironically, I have been researching and wanting a Tundra the past month or so and joined a Tundra Forum to help me choose what options I wanted/needed and to gain insight into the capabilities. I own a 2018 Honda Pioneer 500 UTV and wanted to be able to haul my UTV in the bed of a pickup, and tow a medium-sized RV trailer for camping in the mountains.

But, after reviewing finances and the cost of RVs, I realized if I bought a new pickup, I couldn't afford a new RV. And, even if I did get a cheaper RV, I would only need to tow the camper and bring the UTV a couple of times a year.

But every week I need to run into town with my dog, and at least once a month, I go into the woods with my girlfriend and another couple with my dog, so an extra cab pickup just wouldn't work.

So, the Yukon was fine and perfect for 99% of what I did. The problem was that it was a GM, and things started going wrong with it at only 100k miles. The day I test drove the Tundra, the "Service Air Bag" light came on. The month before, the AC went out. Last week, the transmission started feeling funny.

I decided to buy something that would haul 4 passengers plus my 100lb Great Dane/Lab mix, tow a 2500lb utility trailer/UTV, off-road capable, got at least 16mpg, absolutely reliable, and cost as close to $35k as possible. The 4Runner was it.

Mine had dealer added side steps, factory rubber floor liners, blacked out trim, and the upgraded sound system.

Still need to read about all of the goodies it has since I have done zero research on it.

I have always loved the 4Runners, and have wanted one for decades. Now I have one!

As for mods, will be adding some black rims and probably more aggressive tires soon. Could use some more HP, so will research that. Exhaust could use a free-flowing muffler and some more noise. Roof rack as well. But fine with the suspension height and tire size; the UTV is for exploring the mountains.

Congrats ! Really enjoying my 4Runner over my last Tacoma and even a platinum Tundra. Still consider 4Runner a truck with a covered bed. You'll like the maneuverability and mpg over the Tundra.
