    2018 4Runner TRD Off-Road Premium white
    Hello all,

    Finally got myself a white 2018 Off-Road Premium (no KDSS, no moonroof, but heated seats, etc), with less than 6000 miles on it, certified pre-owned (was used by the dealership as a loaner). Basically new, in spotless condition — I’m very happy with it!

    I will be overlanding, doing trails primarily in the west and southwest (I love southern Utah, Colorado). A reach goal is the PanAmerican Highway in two stretches (lower 48 to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska and US to Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego).

    I’ve already put 265/70R17 BFGoodrich KO2s on the OEM wheels. I cannot justify spending $1000-1500 on new wheels right now (cosmetics), as I’d rather get other, more consequential mods first. Loving the KO2s. Also in, a K&N air filter. The truck came from the dealer with a fresh fully synthetic oil change, spare set of TRD floor mats, door guards, and full tank of gas. It's the little touches...

    Ordered TRD front skid plate and Warn front bumper, next are Shrockworks rock sliders, upgraded interior lights.

    Researching: suspension, compressor (ARB?), aux battery setup, snorkel (ARB Safari CAI?), winch (Warn?), outside lighting, roof rack (Gobi?), RoadShower 4L, awning. For my rack needs, I will get two SXMA gas tanks of 30L/8gal each for 500 mile total autonomy, and a pair of Maxtrax MKII2 (black), complemented by all necessary recovery gear. That’ll be the only gear to go up on top (considering center of gravity and security). Not interested in a rooftop tent.

    First impressions of the 4Runner: excellent, comfortable, and robust handling. I do not find it underpowered, but I’ve ordered Pedal Commander PC27 nonetheless :) Front dip when braking doesn’t bother me — I drive smoothly, I’m not 16 anymore. Rig has just enough tech for me; using the Bluetooth for music and calls, navigation on phone and Gaia app on iPad eventually. The only thing I’m missing is display of tire pressure, lane assist and Apple CarPlay, but I can live without them. Otherwise, I'm happy to be looking outside than at a screen.

    Gear already acquired: AlpiCool 20L 12V fridge, LifeSaver 20L water filtration jerrycan, NOCO Genius GB40 (lifesaver!), Garmin InReach+, iPad Pro for nav apps.
