My Dad was a WWII Veteran. Earned two Purple Hearts (always said "I didn't mean to apply for those"). He was proud of his service, but after watching the way our 'leadership" handled the Vietnam war, lost faith in the system. I was just old enough to have gone to Iraq during Desert Shield/Desert Storm. He offered to lovingly break my legs if I thought about joining up.
On another note...I have a 16 year old who has been itching to get out on his own for over a year now. We get along great, he just wants to be independent so bad that it drives him nuts. Stays busy with sports, dual enrollment and honors classes and still looks for side jobs whenever he can.

Can you hear the rain on the Aluminum roof? They are popular here in Tennessee. We rented a cabin that had one but very loud.

No cell signal inside now. Texts go through. It just switches to WiFi in the house. Some people put lead sheeting under it...

It keeps things “quite”. I’ve noticed lately, when the sun is on my amp in the Z28. I get this pulsating surge. That I’ve never heard before. Like picking up interference from the sun or something. Then after it sets it sounds fine.:spy:

I don’t get the sense of lead underneath aluminum standing seam... save the money for the aluminum and just put lead up there, as well in a standing seam application!

I'm not an expert on the subject but building codes in Tennessee never mention lead. Lead was removed in the plumbing industry decades ago. Body shops loved lead but that was stopped also. The chopped top LEAD sleds were really lead. The body work looked great but the lead was very heavy and people sued the lead industry because of sickness. I never heard of lead in the roofing process. The vent pipes used in plumbing had lead covers over the pipe and formed into the shingle line , that's not permitted either. I liked the lead but the rules changed.

In this case you can trust me, I know a thing or two about roofing. lead roofs are great and not poisonous or bad for the environment. I mean sure don’t work with lead without gloves and eat your sandwich right after that without washing your hands. they last very long and the idea of lead roofing is as older then the dark age!

Well beknown buildings that at least had a lead roof for a while are the dome of the rock in Jerusalem, the cathedral of colonial, cathedral saint-denis ,doge’s palace...

    Btw:
The roofing lead on the colonial cathedral weight approximately 600tons

I believe you. Lead roofs last 200 years!!!!! When I hired in the union pipefitting industry we worked on cast iron plumbing with lead joints. I think bout 1980 or so that all stopped. We were required to wear a respirator and many lawsuits were in the making because of heating the lead pots. Even the gutters were lead. The floor in the foundry was lead. When I retired the welders were not permitted to use solder with ANY lead content. It just isn't seen very much. I think lead would outlast almost any roofing material. Lead reflects acid rain. I'd like to have my roof like that.

I saw the “Runber Baron’s” Houses in Wisconsin. All the roofs were copper.....Even had elephant hide on the walls in a room...

I outlast a lot of the roofing material but it’s for sure not the best under the good ones
    Burlington slate last 500 years
    Other good slate >100 years
Copper is long lasting too (depends on industrial air pollution)
I personally tear off, wash, and reinstall tile that was 120 on a roof
So lead usually something good the only case I wouldn’t use lead is on a low pitch next to trees - these f....g squirrels love to chew on lead.

Biltmore estate is the largest home in America built by the Vanderbilt family . The roof is slate with lead seams. It looks brand new.

The guy I got it from, locally, had to pay taxes on it. Must of stored it for awhile. It was unopened but the manual and box smelled moldy. I put that sh$t out in the garage...
