Kinda Contrarian but........

are there any rear springs that are for lowering the back a bit? Instead of lifting the front an inch or so, I think lowering the rear an inch would suit my situation better. Seems like all the springs I see are for lifting. Thanks!

In all seriousness just lift the front a bit.

 

Its pretty rare. Very small handful of folks have done it... honestly I'd bet most info youll find is from old T4R.org days
For example Most obvious answer is find a custom spring manufacturer and conspire to make something exactly to your specs and shorter. Or just grab your OEM springs and cut them down.

 

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll probably just leave it alone. Just sitting on the rear bumper lowered the back by about 1/2" and I only weigh about 150lbs.

 

Get you a couple doggies in the back

 

So just gain 150 pounds and drive while sitting on the rear bumper. Problem solved.

A factory 4th gen rear spring would lower yours by 1/2” or so.

 

Hey, thanks for the info! Are the dimensions of the top and bottom of the spring the same so it would fit OK?

 

Dimensions are the same. They’re a little shorter. I used the Eibach 4th gen springs on my 17 and got 2/3” lift instead of the 1” or more it was rated for. I’m not sure if the factory 4th gen’s had different rear spring rates from the v6 to v8. The fronts were different.

I saw a chart comparing the 4th gen springs , fj and aftermarket. If I remember correctly the coil heights were different but the rates were the same or close.

 

Went on the Olathe Toyota parts site and the V6 and V8 rear springs have the same #. I might order one for the 5th gen and 4th gen and compare the two. Thanks again!

 

I’d probably just order 2 4th gen and put them in and see if you like them. Only takes a few minutes with a floor jack.

Did you ever get a chance to try out the 4th gen springs? I’m trading my 17 Offroad on a 22 limited and thinking of going the 4th gen spring route to level it out. I’m not ready to rip out the xreas yet

 

Nope. I read somewhere that the 4th gen springs will raise the rear of the 5th gen instead. I just ended up ordering a pair of Bilstein 6112 front shocks set for the lowest lift and will just give that a try and leave the rear alone.

 

I may grab a set and see what they do. I Know I have a set of 5th gen rears somewhere
