Hi, I need some help please.
2022 toyota 4 runner limited. I had two new keyfobs with inserts programmed by dealership. Someone attempted to steal this SUV and the cops found it after. So I had two new keyfobs programmed from the dealership. Both keyfobs are not working the unlock, lock, horn and even starter are not working by using keyfobs. The vehicle starts manually by push start with keyfob inside of it so that seems to be working. Dealership says keyfobs are not the issue as the remote is communicating with the 4runner. They want to charge for hours and hours of diagnosis. Can someone please help with recommendations as it is not locking or unlocking, horn button not working and starting it with keyfobs is not working. Thank you in advance

The person that tried to steal it could’ve damaged or corrupted the security module and/or ecu.

Was it yours when it was stolen? Then contact insurance. Did you buy it used from the dealership, then I would think its covered in the 3 year and it’s the dealership issue.

Too poor to buy anything now
Thieves probably used the CANBUS connection to steal it and messed that up.

Check battery in keyfobs, if battery is good, try to get either warranty or insurance to pay. Or maybe find independent mechanic who knows Toyotas. Who knows what thieves did mess up. Could be as easy as turn on some settings in ECU or as hard as or replace wiring harness or whole ECU.
