Hi all. I just picked up a 1987 SR5 w/ 22R-E, 4x4, 5 speed and 140k on the clock. One family car up until me. She's slightly rough around the edges but zero rust, great bones and an awesome candidate for a restoration. The PO was super excited about my plans for her as he had a lot of memories in this truck and the idea of it having a cushy retirement was very appealing to him.

Other than a flip gone awry about a year ago (gen3 with lots of desirable options that just attracted tire kickers) I'm new to Toyotas and 4runners. I've historically been a Mercedes guy but with a jeep XJ for off roading. This truck just looked so fantastic though I couldn't help myself!

While new to Yota-land I've been known to turn a wrench or two and have some experience with vehicle restoration (found my second car on CL a few years after selling her, a 1983 300SD, bought it back and restored it). Although with that restoration I kind of opened up the money spigot and farmed key aspects out whereas this is going to be mostly in house and on a tight budget. A buddy of mine is going to be helping me out. Very handy dude with a few years experience with a paint gun.

At any rate, definitely very excited to be part of the community here and hoping y'all will be able to provide some advice along the way!

Somehow I don't have any yet. Out of town but I'll fix that by tomorrow afternoon!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. Since we've got a few people following, I'll go ahead and ask my biggest question that's on my pre-build thread that's getting a bit less love.

What are the parts on N60s that are notorious for going bad and fixing or preemptively replacing would be a part of a truly quality restoration?

Also, if you guys could suggest cheap to moderately priced OEM touches that this community would appreciate that would be helpful as well.

Welcome, that's going to be one (interior) project for the record book. Love the mix-n-match front seats!
