Hello everyone. I'm Phil from Hickory KY. I just recently bought a loaded out 2012 SR5 4x4 in Pearl White. I did own a 2010 Tacoma double cab 4x4 and loved it. I started on a search for a 4 door Jeep. During the search, I ran across this 4runner. I thought," I'll drive that just for giggles" ( I had always thought 4runners were cool looking but had never sat my butt in one) Well while driving it, I said "Screw a Jeep!! This thing is friggin sweet!! I feel in love!! Bad part is, I took it home, and my wife fell in love with it too. So...... now MY sweet Tacoma somehow turned into HER 4runner and I'm driving her old minivan. So now I'm on the search for a 3rd gen. I would like maybe a 99-02 with hopefully under 150,000 miles. They are few and far between.

Find a 99 or 00 limited 4x4 with a locker. You can still find them with 150 on the clock. I have one in my drive way lol...

    Welcome

This 4Runner thing is bad. All I can think about these days is stashing money from my wife to afford more mods... I'll be damned if I let her steal my rig, though. ;)

Thanks, that's what I'm looking for. If I can find one with a good frame. I keep hearing that 4runners are having the frame rust issues like the Tacomas. Is this true?

No- That is BS. My 99 is clean and so is my 01. People just don't take care of there stuff and that is why that happens. Both my 3rd Gens frames are rock solid after 17 years.

OK. Whew!! That had me worried. I've found several on Craigslist that I'm interested in then I see this "Buyer Beware" listing in Chicago about guys selling unsafe 4Runners around there. I was like, REALLY? I knew about the Tacomas but I hadn't heard that 4Runners had the issue. That's good to know. Of course, I WILL be checking them out thoroughly before I buy.
