So excited. I am getting my first 4runner 5th gen SR5 today. The SO and I are moving to Hawaii and I am trading in my car for a 4runner to be our island adventure vehicle.

I really need to spend some time learning more about off-roading because you can easily get stranded on the island with nobody to come rescue you. I was in the Army and did training in our humvee and MRAP around obstacle courses and in theater in the middle east, but some recommendations on videos about off-roading with the 4runner would be appreciated!

Are you shipping your car to HI only to trade it in once there? That seems... costly!

Other way around. People on the island love Toyotas and they are quite expensive there. Getting it on the mainland and shipping it to the island. Way cheaper doing it like this.

Probably a wise move to bring your new runner with you. Maui dealership has zero new 4wd 4Runners in stock. Used ones are getting scarce, too.

You realize Maui can get it from Honolulu right? There is a shit ton here for sale.

Don't know how true it is either but online inventory shows 1 2021 Lunar Rock available soon. Guess dealer got their hands on one to get one of the first ones down here. Not surprising if they get first choice since the amount of damn Toyotas that get old here and Servco owns um all.

    Big Island

I researched the market on the islands. I looked at everything I could find on any island with similar miles and year, markups are around 3-6k depending. Plus there is not a huge selection. Where I live around Chicago is a big market with many used vehicles to choose from, and I factored shipping quotes into the total cost to me. I can see you guys on Maui from the tip maybe go to the top of Haleakala and flash your brights :)

You CAN get them in Hon, but it comes at a cost :)

Well I see you got a used 2017 one. Everyone does think they are gold down here.

Thought you were looking at new. Servco here doesn't add no dealer markup BS.
