My wife and I had a trip planned/paid for in October of 2020. We were saddened to cancel because of the way the world was with COVID. Really sucked!

We stressed about the whole thing up until the day before, because Iceland wasn't screwing around with Covid, so we expected our trip to get canceled. It wasn't until we stepped off the plane in Keflavik, that we could relax lol.

Our trip in 2020 was canceled. 2021 worked out better. Hiked the Laugavegur trail last August. We’re going back in March for the GFs birthday.

Here’s a few of our pics.

We got lucky. They let us reschedule our guided trip for 2021 at no cost. Just had to pay a bit extra to get the airfare rebooked.

That’s awesome to hear. My wife and I were just concerned of the unknown in 2020 so we pulled out. We paid for the trip in ‘19 and didn’t buy insurance. We had everything lined up but we were able to get our money back for the trip because of the shit show in 2020. As for the flight I used miles which were originally non refundable. Wasn’t as easy as the trip but I raised enough concern explaining that it wasn’t my fault and there was a chance that we wouldn’t be even able to do international travel. They tried to have me check back every few weeks to every other month to check travel status. They empathized and I said I wasn’t mad but I will closing my account. They quickly changed their tune. I have been with them for +20 years. I know airlines took a hit buuuuut…. We have since booked a couple other trips.
I know that we can and will go to Iceland sooner than later but it just sucked in 2020 and was really looking forward to going. This was the first trip ( international )we ever planned and couldn’t go.
I’m grateful I found this thread because all the pics I’m showing my wife and said what it could have been. She looks at me and says “what it will be”…lol

    Awesome pics. Thanks for sharing.

I've flown over it multiple times to and from the middle east. I really need to plan a trip there.

The food was absolutely amazing, especially seafood. Our favorite however, was a small neighborhood pizza shop. They made their pizza's with a type of flat bread, and vodka sauce. The pizza we loved most had dollops of cream cheese, mushrooms, and pepperoni. Ended up eating that every other night lol. The other places we went to had delicious baked items, and snacks.

I was PISSED we got there a week after the volcano stopped pumping out lava (although I understand that's a good thing for the locals lol), because I had bought a high-end drone specifically for that. There was quite a few places we didn't get to see because of the weather, like the Katla Ice Cave. We also just missed the Northern Lights as they were starting up, because it rained or was cloudy every night. We're hopefully going back next summer to see all the rest. That trip will be a month-long one though.

Seems like an AMAZING place. Why is the ground so black? Is it volcanic soil?

Yep, the whole place is covered in some sort of volcanic pumice or stone. But yes, Iceland is paradise :)

None. Bone Stock. EXCEPT: Brushguard, tow hitch, both welded to the frame. It's good to have friends and a fully equipped garage!
That's why Eric the Red named it Iceland. To try and keep anyone following him from going there. Instead, he wanted them to go to Greenland, again named thus to trick other Vikings.
Smart man, Eric, and his son as well!

Those are gorgeous pictures! I've been wanting to visit Iceland. Been telling the wife lets plan a trip there for the last 3-4 years. Well, what do you know, she plans one for Hawaii! :D
