This is true. Once it departs port on transport it switches to G status. That's what mine did.

Did you request the pro wheels or was that just how it came?

I’m wondering why some off roads come with the TRD Pro wheels and some with the standard matte black TRD wheel.

Toyota tweaked the design details sometime during this last year. Pics of the previous version. Around the lugs and the spokes are different with little divits on the rim on new version.

So if a build date is June ‘22 and the info the dealer has in their system says it comes with option “Black TRD Wheels ~$1800 with Black lug nuts”… will it come with that new style?

Probably...? My 4runner with an April build date has the new style, but dealers have lots of trickery and without a specific Toyota part number being referenced I'd be skeptical until seeing them in person.

Yes, it seems like Toyota started using them pretty early in the the production year. My newer version were installed at the port early in June.

Is the finish on them slightly more glossy than the old ones?

Seems like I read somewhere that one reason for the update was that they are easier to keep clean.

Yes. It came with the Dunlop tires but BFG had a $110 off sale on July 4th weekend so I pulled the trigger with only 400 miles on it on the 4Runner. I have never done that king of thing before. I normally just run the stock tires as long as I can but we live in Idaho and I wanted to have good tires in the snow this winter --> My wife wasn't happy with me LOL

    Funny!
Are the tires pretty tolerable as far as road noise on the hiway for an AT? I don’t blame you for wanting to upgrade before an Idaho winter.

Not loud at all. I have ran the BFG K20 tires on my 1997 and 2016 Chevy Silverado trucks for years and they wear great and do not hum at all.

I could call it The Good The Bad and The Ugly.
The good was the 4Runner ran great and we love it. The seats are comfortable for long drives and the AC works great in the front and we have a 16 year old daughter and she loved the AC in the rear. We also like the navigation system.
The bad was the fuel mileage. I didn't buy it for fuel mileage but was disappointed in only getting 14 MPG when doing 85MPH out on the open Interstate. Hell I only got 16 MPG when doing 55 MPH around Spring Creek Nevada out side of Elko when we went to see my wife's Mom and Dad.
The ugly was a strange vibration coming from the rear. It would be at 55 to 65MPH and then change to 80 MPH. It felt like I was pulling a small motorcycle trailer and the bike and trailer was bouncing a little. I had just bought BFG K20 tires on 4TH of July weekend and there was a bad vibration around 45 MPH the first week of owning them and they check all of the tire/wheels and found that the right rear was a bad tire so they replaced it before leaving.
I took it around Boise for the next 2 weeks and everything felt good. When I got back I took it back to a discount tire to see if I had lost a wheel weight and they said all of the wheels were slightly out of balance but the right rear tire was bad and they replaced it again..
Thankfully everything now it is good.
The one thing about the MPG was I didn't take off the Yakama roof basket off like I wanted to before the trip. I had some small scaffold set up the night before leaving but my wife talked me out of taking it off because she was worried I would hurt my back right before leaving for 12 days. I gave in because I can now take it off and check out if it does make a difference when we go see my daughter at collage in a few weeks.
I really hope I can get the 19 MPG as many say they are getting even with the BFG stock size tires.100_4965.jpg

If I am remembering correct you had a vibration , Did you get the vibration fixed on your new 4Runner?

Glad the trip went well, at least gas has gone down slightly.
The dealer road forced balanced the tires and during the process somehow discovered the dot tire manufacturers put on one tire to mark the light spot was about 110 degrees off. They remounted is and 98% of the vibration is gone. I have to intentionally search for it and then it’s so faint it is a non-issue for now. I am currently running 36psi and am going to try 38 this week.
So far so good with the service dept.

    Perfect as is.
Congrats good to know. We had one become available this weekend at my local dealer here in AZ. I have a 2021 pro black and traded it in on the lime. Looks like may be here this week since it arrived on 7/25 at port and looks like there's a 2 week difference from port to ground. I heard they are no longer using rail but direct from truck to dealer because of railroad strikes which is better for me since I'm in PHX.
