Here's my sas runner--she's got a 2.7 L, 5 speed, twin sticks, 5.29s locked F & R, the front axle is from an 89 FJ, 30 spline longs, tg high steer, FJ steering box currently sitting on 35s and I have a set of 38s on beadlocks crammed in the garage. Lots still to do but she is a hell of a starting point.

Its sad- I didn't get my rig out on the trials at all or hardly at all last year. I think this year will be much better or that is the plan anyhow.

Can you throw some more pics up of the rear end. I'm thinking about a diamond axle build and call it good after that. I'm still looking at options rather it's a 60, 14 bolt etc etc. I think I can get some good money for my rear axle right now and it will help fund everything else moving forward.

here ya go , I cut the stock D60 housing ends off, and welded on new housing ends to be able to use 35 spline Toyota 6 lug axle shafts , I used this Dana conversion kit : http://www.lowrangeoffroad.com/toyota-to-dana-60-rear-hybrid-rear-axle-kit-ya-td60-35-kit.html .

The D60 diff does hang a little lower than I'd like , and I hit it from time to time but whadya gonna do . I think it is possible to shave or trim the bottom of the diff to gain an inch or two or clearance ....

And what did you use for disk breaks? I see it is not drums. I like that kit. I'm going to be doing some work as I have said but I'm just doing home work right now. I'm also seeing if I can do the 14 bold and still keep toyota outters like you have from lowrange. I just worry that if I keep it up at some point I"m going to kill the ring and pinion gear. Everything else will hold I think but that.

So I have this drone in my front end. Myself and 4 other very well qualified guys have looked at this rig and we are stumped. At this point I'm about to pull the trigger to rip the front end apart but I'm not sure we going to find anything and it will be a waste of time and money. It almost sounds like a tire but different.

    Thoughts on this ?

Well after further diagnosis and test drives etc it looks like we are at the point of a pinion bearing. Ugh!!!!

Do you have solid spacers on your pinions?

Can a Yukon Super joint be rebuilt? My builder is telling me one is shot and the other is on the way out? Really???? There is no bearing in them its just the grease type joint. I really don't want to spend 500.00 for two joints right now.

I'm really not sure what to think really. I'm still thinking it is a pinion bearing or something in the T-Case.

Update : It's not the pinion gear. I was wrong amd my axle builder was correct. It's over drive in the transmission or tq converter. Finally felt it's slip pretty hard. On the other hand my truck dosent dart around anymore and drive strait now after all that work done. One thing at a time I guess.

What's everyone's preference for shocks on their SAS rigs? I know Ol' Blue is linked with ORIs (f'ing jelly of those things man) but down the road I want opinions for replacements...don't know how ORIs would work with leafs. Of course there's always linking as an option (yea right me and what bank)

How is the ride quality for all you guys, espically up front? My truck can flex but the ride is jarring on even the smallest bumps :notsure:

Mine is so much better after I got the ORI's fixed and rebuilt. As for ride is pretty darn good for a SAS rig. It's not a lex so I don't care.
