Hi Everyone. As above, my antenna was mangled by some cretin on my '98. It was a power antenna. The motor went out several years ago and I've just had the mast up. I need to get a new one attached, but can't seem to figure out how to do it other than videos of me taking off the entire fender or the dash. The antenna has that internal recoiling plastic bit. Is there no way to get a new one on without a big disassembly? Thanks.

Do you actually listen to AM/FM radio? I ask because steaming from one's phone is generally the popular thing to do.

If not, I'd just remove it and plug the whole.

I broke mine off while off roading; did it on 2 Toyota's of mine actually :bananadead:

I’m listening to FM right now. Analog tuner on a shower radio. Laugh it up it pulls more stations in than anything you got.

I've replaced my 2002 one twice. Dunno if the '98 is different. I never had to remove the fender, but if I remember correctly:

You unscrew the silver retaining nut on the antenna base on the fender. Turn on the radio. It should eject the entire antenna mast and the notched plastic line. Measure to make sure no more is in the motorized unit or verify the tip is the factory tip. Any plastic lost in the unit will require you to remove it...which may or may not require the fender to be removed. Then you turn on the radio...then turn it off...radio will start retracting the antenna...feed in the new replacement antenna, which will retract until the mast stops it. Screw on the metal retainer.

1999 is replaced the same way as mentioned above, however if the antenna motor does not work you cannot rewind the antenna mask tail into the motor. There may be a kit to convert the antenna mask to a stubby version if you don't wanna replace the motor

I just had mine ripped off at the car wash it was a power antenna ,I bought an aftermarket but it didn't fit so I just bougjtba stationary one . You don't have to take the fender or none of that off , I tooky right tire off for easier access, just take your center dash bezel off pull your radio out tape a length of string onto your antenna cable the take your inner fender loose reach up in the fender and unbolt the antenna assembly and pull the cable with the string attached through the fender attach your new cable to the string and go inside and pull your cable back through, pull eady you dont want to pull tje string off your cable
