    Good Morning!!!

So I recently bid on a 1995 4Runner on eBay with what I thought was a low bid offer based on Cars and Bid.com for example and locally. Margaritas were part of the decision making process and much to my total surprise when I woke this past Tuesday and saw I was the highest bidder with a winning bid under 3K.
I did not think this through as I live in the greater Houston area and my new 4Runner currently lives in Colorado, north of Denver. I have a plan, maybe? Fly to Denver. Uber to 4Runner and driver to a local shop. It probably needs a water pump. Probably should replace timing belt, check A/C (I do live in Texas), and drive back to Texas.
prior to, I have always owned Jeeps from CJ's, to TJ's, to Liberty's, to a 1988 Grand Wagonner.

Being new to 4Runners minus the Colorado rentals I have no idea what I am getting into.

    Thanks,
    Rusty

Thanks!!! My avatar is the vehicle in question and seller claims no rust although some mechanical issues; water pump leak and minor oil leaks. All the jeeps I've ever owned all marked their territory. I pray that his definition of minor aligns with my definition and also not a rear main seal???

    Thanks again,
    Rusty

As a smooth brain retired Marine I did not tell my wife that I bid on the vehicle over rounds of margaritas at our local El Stinko and her surprise was a little different than mines. She is almost going to start talking to me soon; I think???

Welcome mate... I'm on the other side of ya, in the Humble/Kingwood area! Congrats on the purchase! I think you should be ok. Sounds like it may need a little TLC to bring it back to life.

    Cheers,

    Sean

Welcome from the center of the bourbon universe. Many a decision has been made under the cloud of alcohol. Let's hope this one turns out to be a good one. Keep us informed on how the 4R works out . . . and if your wife ever starts talking to you again.

    @UofLCardfan77 and others, Thanks!!!

My brother used to live in Elizabethton; well his house still does up the hill behind the elementary school. He recently moved to Jonesboro.

    Wife is still not happy.

I hope older 4Runners can be sort of reliable like that poor Hi-Lux in Top Gear.

Been here since 1986 when we got married. I was the City Planner for 31 years so I've probably driven right past your brother's old house.

Thanks for all well wishes and support.

Update. Paid for the vehicle last night. Bought one way ticket to Denver. Plan is to get Car and drive down to Colorado Springs as my aunt lives there. Get work done in Colorado Springs and then drive back to the Houston area with a stop at the Big Tex Steakhouse for that 72oz challenge. Kidding on the hour challenge. One way ticket serves two purposes. Get car and if wife still upset. How bad can Colorado be? They have all these redi-type-clinics with green medical crosses. I feel healthier already.

At a minimum; water pump and A/C serviced. Older cars in my experiences are never it probably just needs air in the tires. So I am expecting to have timing belt replaced as well and other hidden gems. We shall see...

Well if the wifey is still mad at you maybe you should do a forum search on how to build a sleeping platform for the rear of the 4R. LOL!

@UofLCardfan77 LOL!!! Can we pray that once she sees it for the first time she will be enamored by the car? Reality is we have a two car garage which may be a car and cot garage.
