Has anyone here (real person on this forum) actually taken delivery of a new 6th gen???

I'm just driving my audi A4 right now. I'm nearing 90,000 trouble free miles on it. Routine from the book fluids, tires, brakes is all I've done to it.

Haven't bought anything else yet. Still trying to decide if Toyota can get their stuff together. I also tried a 22 tundra. Same thing with it. It was a hybrid so the engine wasn't "safety" recalled, but same engine same problem. The dirty secret is they're not replacing those hoping they make it past warranty to wash their hands. (hybrid can technically limp to side of the road, so it's not under the recall). Tundra also suffered with coolant in the oil as well as engine failure.

The only times I've ever had to use an attorney was for my will and other financial docs. Toyota is giving him a workout and bought him a nice boat though.

I've had a Toyota in my garage for 23 years, this is the first year without one. Hard habit to break I guess.

I like the new Tundras but don’t want anything to do with that ticking time bomb of an engine. Only a fool would keep one of those once the warranty expires. Even then who wants to deal with the hassle of an engine replacement, loaner car, etc.

Agreed, you buy a Toyota to spend as little to no time at a dealer as possible. I take really good care of my stuff too, I'm blessed to have a nice big garage. Always do maintenance by the book or sooner. I follow recommendations for OCI by the care care nut too.

I went and looked at the 4runner, looks just like the taco inside except instead of a bed you have a cargo area, so I had a little bit of cringe moment.

The big difference is the 4r and LC are made in Japan. Back in 2014 I had a 4runner and you could tell it was built better and higher quality materials from Japan than the TX/MX built units.

I may wait to see what Toyota has in store next year for the 26 tundra too, or a 2nd year 4r.

15% fuel on 2nd oil change? Holy mole.

I know some forced induction engines have fuel dilution issues and it's not uncommon but that's....high especially for what constitutes very ideal driving pattern? i hope that was a fluke for an engine that has been in use by various models for 4-5 years.

Let me see if I can scare up the blackstone oil report; ever since they introduced AI to everything, everything sucks including my email search! The flash point of the oil was nearing ~220F or darn near the boiling point of water (or the operating temp of oil) and the viscosity was in the 5-8 weight range (vs bottle oil at 20 weight).

I will say the nice thing I liked about the taco was the engine didn't stop when you remote start and open the door! @4Runner757 is that the case with the 2025 4runner?

You’re always going to have some fuel in the oil. How much is too much? Nobody knows.

The difference between a flammable fuel (gasoline) and a combustable fuel (diesel) is the flash point. When your oil flash point hits that of the design spec operating oil temperature, the oil becomes flammable. That's how much is too much, so somebody knows :)

Have you heard of anyone’s engine exploding because of too much gas in the oil? I have not.
I have never had my oil tested so I have no idea how much gas has gotten into it. The only concern I would have with it is if the oil diluted too much then it may cause bearing issues. Maybe that’s the issue with the Tundra engines seizing up.

Well I’ve never had an engine failure in any vehicle, motorcycle, boat or yard equipment I have ever owned so it’s not exactly something I’m going to lose sleep over.

Does 15% fuel mean that 15% of the total volume in the crankcase was fuel? If so, that means there was almost a whole extra quart of fluid in there, and the dipstick would reflect that. Unless the truck also consumed almost a quart of oil in that 5000 miles.

For this price it’s criminal that Toyota doesn’t include dual zone automatic climate control. I wonder if the Canadian version is different?

Trailhunter or trd pro. As of now I am leaning more towards the trailhunter. But that landcruiser looks good too.....to me.

Seems to handle Fins N Things okay, though it's a mild trail by Moab standards. Larger stock tire size over 5th gen probably helped

I thought I read excessive fuel dilution does exactly that, the crankcase oil level can increase in some extreme instances. Especially if the gas isn’t vaporized off as quick as it’s replaced. Didn’t the honda DI injection engines have this problem?

The reduced viscosity is a problem too, as mentioned. I had a 2011 Kia Optima with DI injection. I put 80k miles on it before I traded it in on a new highlander at carmax. The oil smelled of gasoline, and after not much mileage the oil started to get grey-black a few thousand miles after the oil was replaced. It may not have exploded, but it did not inspire confidence it would last. Much less had it had a turbo.

Only the Honda 1.5T is prone to dilution out of all their DI engines but so far some firmware update, not being in cold weather and not short-tripping it helps. Haven’t seen it yet in the one I care for at least but all three factors above apply.

Your Optima though, I’m glad you got 80k out of it and got out yourself. My parents have a ‘12 Sonata probably pushing 100k now with the N/A 2.4 but both that and the 2.0T are garbage. I did get to 130k out of another 2.4 but it wasn’t confidence inspiring. Expecting to eventually hear “_____, it just stopped!” by phone.

Lol, a few years ago I remember a neighbor pulled up to their driveway a in a similar vintage Hundai. It was doing the full-on clanky screetchy metal chunking death-rattle sound. Worst sound I ever heard from an engine. It was weird, they just got out, got the mail, and walked inside like nothing even happened. Must have been a long day at work lol. Don’t know what happened after that, but it’s the last time I saw that car.

What wheels and tires are those on your ORP? Thanks! New to the forum, not 4Runners. Still driving my 97 and looking at the ORP.

It's easier when you have a full-time spotter aka cameraman. Might as well since some ORs from the the now shoddy Tahara factory...

I got mine the end of March and have not been disappointed. I'm a first time 4Runner but not a 4x4 truck owner. I drove it up in the mountains and was impressed with the power. It never struggled nor did it ever surpass 1500 RPMs. I bought the hybred and never once have I felt it shift gears or power down to get up mountain. Normally I find going into mountains that I have to turn off cruise control. O am still getting used to all the computerized stuff but so far and happy with it. This is my 4th new generation vehicle and have never had a problem with any of them. But did but extended warranty to be safe.
