Tweaked the clutch pedal pushrod on monday. Was having a little trouble getting it to start. Used the cancel switch. NOW it fires right up using the pedal. I feel better about it, just from a safety standpoint. The clutch now starts engaging at just the right height off the floor, too.

While we were in town yesterday, we ran it through a commercial car wash. First time for both of us, and the truck, too! It really looks nice, as well. Nothing like a happy truck! Makes for a happy wife. Happy wife, happy life. Amazing what a simple car wash can do :D

Not only all that, the weather is absolutely gorgeous. Life is good :)

I won an eBay auction for an antique Pflueger Medalist fly reel that will go on a little fiberglass fly rod I have. The rod is a 6' 6" 3 wt and will be used on small streams way up high in the mountains. Best guess is that the reel was manufactured in the late 50's or early 60's, so a few years older than me. I can't wait to load it up and take it fishing!

Got our 20' flagpole set in the front yard. Also, got 3 out of 4 rose bushes set around it. Still need to set the last rose bush, concrete scalloped edgers, and the white gravel around the base.
One of the local high schools made us a metal American flag, the ragged old flag, like in the Johnny Cash song. It's powder coated, and looks incredible. This shop class does amazing things, learning skills without college.
No, it's not up the flagpole. That's just a regular cloth flag. Storm flag size. The metal one will mount on the ramp up to our front door.

The weather was a little cloudy with thunderstorms the other day, but heck, I love thunderstorms. Now, it's back to beautiful again. Life is STILL good.
How long will it last? :notsure: Only the deity of your choice, if any, knows, but me and my lovely wife will enjoy it to the max while it lasts.

    Have fun, all!

Hurt my back at work last Thursday and I went to the chiropractor and got an adjustment, but, there has still been some lingering pain and stiffness that was slowly getting worse, so, I went back in for a follow up appointment today and finally got fully popped back in. I feel so much better finally.

My parents are retiring, they own a successful auto repair business. They are having me move back to where the shop is and are going to start the process of me taking it over. I’m getting a big bonus to help with moving expenses and I’m going to start off as a technician, been one for 10 years FYI. After a year or so I will be manager, get another very generous bonus and be part owner. This is literally my dream to own a shop. I thought I messed up my opportunity to do that because I quit working for them 5 years ago, I guess they want someone there they can trust.

That’s awesome man, I often look at my parents (parent now) and wish they had done something in their life to pass along such as the scenario you laid out. Could also say that sounds like a pretty dreamy reality! Cheers and best of luck!

I wish you the very best of luck with your new (to you) business!

My parents and I haven't spoken in 40+ years now. My mother has passed, so it just leaves my father. A former airline pilot, alcoholic, and of the firm opinion I just want to freeload off him. I got jobs starting at 14, mostly taking old oak trees out of peoples yards. By myself. Then I joined the Corps, made Sgt. in 3 years, not too bad. Got out, and was picked up for a US Customs Aerostat site, so I could take over as lead E-Tech. When Customs lost the contract to Lockheed (do NOT ask me about them!!), they SAID they were getting rid of the lead E-tech slot, so to keep my job, I moved up to Flight Director. Medically retired from there. I guess I am nothing but a freeloader, after all. heh...
My father sold the house I grew up in, which he bought in 70 for $80K, for $2.5 Million. I won't ever see a penny of it, either. My middle daughter will if she lives that long. She was a Marine, too, and had some medical problems when she came back from Iraq. Major medical problems. Can you say illegal medical experiments by the government, folks?

I just can NOT believe that drunk SOB is STILL alive. I have a sick feeling my daughter's sons will get the money. I just hope *I* live long enough to see that drunk in the ground. I suspect he's holding out of spite, now.

On the bright side, the weather has been fantastic here in Oregon, lately, and the local fire crews have been Johnny-on-the-spot with the brush fires this year. Only 1 fire got a little out of hand, so far, 650 acres, but they lined and controlled in about a week. Great work. People are a LOT more paranoid around here this year, and with good reason, after the major forest fire we had last year. There have been more than a few held at gun point by land owners for trying to start fires. Most were nothing more than campers, that ignored the no burning rules in place this year. Bad, or stupid, enough. There have been a few, though, caught with gas cans, flares, and so on. Can you say arsonists, ladies and gentlemen? Just like we had last year.

Never a dull moment, these days I guess.
May you all, ALL, have wonderful, enjoyable, summers!

Thanks man. I am lucky, that’s for sure and I won’t forget that. My parents struggled so I can have something. Don’t get me wrong though, I’m still going to work hard and make sure that they have a great retirement

Thanks man. I’m so sorry about your daughter. I’m sorry about your father too, not necessarily for your father, I guess for how you feel towards him. It takes a lot of pain to feel that way. Mine is also an alcoholic, in recovery though, thank god. So I somewhat understand how it can be and what they can do or say when in that state of mind. I had to quit because of his addiction. We didn’t talk for a while. It took a lot for me to get over my anger towards him, a lifetime of anger from him fucking up and doing stupid shit. Fortunately he had been doing really good since then. At the end of the day he’s my dad and I still love him. Hating someone is definitely easier than loving them especially if they are addicts. I’m not going to tell you to forgive and forget. Not going to tell you to talk to him either. I hope that you’ll at least get to say goodbye when his time comes.
On a more positive note, I’m glad the wildfire season hasn’t been bad for you. I also wish you an enjoyable wonderful summer.

finished.jpg My lovely wife and I picked up a sign we had commissioned yesterday. It is a really nice, black powder-coated, metal rectangle, cut out with a plasma cutter to resemble an American Flag, with all the service's emblems cut out of the striped area.
It was made by, get this, one of the local high school's metal shops! We told them the general idea of what we wanted, and they designed it, cut it out, and powder coated it. We're thoroughly impressed with these kids. Oh, the cost? A whopping $60.00 for the sheet of metal. The rest was free!
It's awesome to see them learning a worthwhile trade! Something other than Underwater Basket Weaving, or Philosophy. They will have a job waiting for them in this town when they graduate, that's certain. A well paying job, at that.

I'll get a picture up as soon as we get one. We want to set it up at the flag pole we have in the front yard before we put a picture up, but I think you'll all like it. All things being equal, it should be later today.

Got to visit with my daughter and her hubby last week. First visit with them since December 2019. They came in from Portland OR, and it was a great time. They'll be back for the International Hot Air Balloon event in October, yahoo!
