Here is a copy of email I got from gobi. I will be cancelling mine.....

I don’t like to make excuses for any delays, so I’d rather be honest about what is going on. We’ve had several members of our production team develop symptoms, and we’ve sent them home for isolation and immediate testing. Despite taking every precaution to protect our workplace from COVID, this second wave is affecting our business and city worse than ever. Assuming no further exposure, we’re planning to have this production line reactivated in the next two weeks, and then I can provide you legitimate shipping updates.

I promise that no one wants to get this out to you more than me. Every single employee of the company is working extended hours and days to create one happy customer at a time. Each of us understands how much you want your product and failing to meet our promise dates is something we all take personally. Please know we understand your frustrations and ask that you please consider the enormous challenge this has presented our business, our suppliers, and shippers.

    Much love,

    GOBI Crew

I have a trip at the beginning of Spring that I need my rack for. I ordered last fall, and after seeing the wait times mentioned in this thread from people who had ordered even earlier than me, decided to give them a call and see what my expected timeframe was (I sent an email two weeks ago to no avail). After explaining my dilemma, they were super helpful and are working to get a rack shipped in time for my trip. Email isn't a very effective means of communicating with them, but if you can get the right person on the phone and are cooperative, it seems like they'll work with you. 5-6 months isn't the longest I've waited for custom or hard-to-find products, so the sentiments that Gobi should have to ship by their stated minimum lead time don't really make sense to me -- especially when there is ample documentation on the web that lead times usually far-exceed these minimums.

i finally got my call this past Tuesday. That makes it ~ 5mo from confirmation order to payment. Also I was in contact with this Director from Gobi for the last two months. He kept me up to date with the current situation. I suggest if your at the 3mo window, reach out to this guy and he will give you some info.

    It’s worth the wait :)

I'll make sure to do that in the coming weeks/months. I don't want to bombard anyone's FB page or even their company phone lines too hard, since that would drive me insane to be on the receiving end of. I'll probably call again in about 3 weeks/a month for another update and trust that they'll do their best to follow through on their commitment.

You all are waiting??? I got mine the same day.

spoiler... found someone who waited the full 9 months and they were trading in their car. They were selling all their accessories because the dealer won’t value accessories. They had it installed for like 4 weeks when they parted out the accessories. I ended up saving like $800 as well. So no complaints with the wait for me ;). Oh and the guy helped me install it. So I feel even more blessed.

In all honesty I looked close at this rack and the welding is not so good. Looks like they hired a bunch of apprentice welders. Looks like a blob on the welds end I found holes in the welds as well. I must say it does a good job and is nice (if you don’t look close to the welds).

I ordered mine on July 11th and just received the call tonight that it is shipping next week. I was in no hurry to receive it but 28 weeks is pretty extensive.. either way I can't wait to install it next week!

    Did you order the no-rise?

They say this build takes longer (for some reason).

Ordered mine mid October of last year; this was there last day of Summer Special going on where they threw in replacement lift gate struts, backpacks, ladder, etc. Just ordered the standard Stealth Multiple Light Setup along with Sunroof Insert. I’m in no rush so I’ll get it when I get it … Just hope their QC is at its best considering there massive orders over last year!

Nah I did the stealth, no sunroof with multilight setup. I assume the multilight is less popular with light bars being the go-to for roofline lighting.

I just got an email from them yesterday saying that the gas struts coming with my rack were back ordered and would ship separately. However, they also said that my rack was being packed and handed over to the shipping company, so that’s a huge plus! I confirmed my order back in July 28 for reference.

Just curious; it was my understanding that’s an extra charge … so what did they charge you for the no rise? … quoted me $200 and I opted out.

Yes, it's an extra $200.......at least for the no rise. Not sure if it's more with different light bar options.

I’m using the 5 year old stock OEM gas struts with the Gobi ladder. Holding up just fine. So you might not need them unless you have other stuff on the lift gate that weigh it down more

Good to know. The struts came with the deal they were running back in July, so at least I didn’t pay extra for them.

I wonder if the no rise will get you better MPGs over stealths with the rise?

I have the rise on my stealth and I can definitely hear the wind drag above my roof.
