I find it funny that people who buy $40,000+ vehicles complain when people spend their money on lottery tickets. That said I know a guy who spends $105 a week on lottery tickets. So far he has won only a few thousand. Not even close to what he puts in but hey it is his money. I only buy when the jackpot get big.

I thought about my reply to this thread before saying anything. I will say this - for my work, I get to grow my beard and dress very, very casually. I once got told by a business manager that she figured I just rode up on a bicycle. My wife and I have built a very financially successful life and we are very fortunate. We own a boat, a jet ski, a 5th wheel, a quad, 2 turbo RZRs, a Tundra, a 4Runner, a Ford F450 and a Sequoia - all 2016 or newer. Please don't judge people by what you perceive as a lack of success. You would think the same thing of me if you saw me and you couldn't be farther from the truth. Let people spend their money on what they want to without being judged. Perhaps I'm being too harsh, but I do not like people judging others when they haven't walked 1 foot in their shoes. YMMV

    Agreed!

It's funny how this thread pops up whenever the jackpot gets really high.

It's also funny, to me, that some folks are willing to buy lottery tickets for 500 million dollars, but not for 40 or 50 million. If the minimum jackpot isn't enough, you must have some expensive taste! Personally, I would never work again if you handed me $1.5 million cash. I could get by on less, really.

With all of the frivolous things some of us put on these vehicles, we are in no position to judge anyone for buying lottery tickets. Many of the things we buy, in general, are worthless or unnecessary anyway.

There's an old joke about lottery tickets being a waste of money cause "Ya got the same chance of winning whether you buy a ticket or not."

Of course, that's essentially true but not literally true. I think it counsels that the smartest move is to buy one, not 40. You still get the fun of knowing you have a chance, but you don't blow a meaningful amount of cash that could be spent on, like, food or shelter. (Or mods lol).

Statistically, buying 40 increases your odds such a negligible amount.

Totally. Me too. I mean, I wouldn't say no to 10 mil. But the idea of winning hundreds of millions? TBH that stresses me out. A lot of anxiety and hassle and responsibility comes with that kind of money. When I buy tix I only play the games with smaller jackpots and better odds.

Yeah, winning that kind of money could bring a lot of stress with it. Although, I'd be willing to trade my work stress for "too much money" stress. :D

Honestly, a few hundred thousand would be life changing for me. But, I'm not really fancy.

It can be as simple as that.

I'm not saying I wouldn't want $500 million. I just think it's funny when people run out and buy tickets because the jackpot is so high, as if the minimum jackpot is pocket change.

Yeah, I could use pocket change like that too.
