    Looking
greetings to everyone. My name is Arkie and my red heeler Tigger is who runs the show. I really was ecstatic whenever I seen the new 2024. Forerunners but unfortunately my area of Colorado it's not easy to get one in the Terra color. Which I really really like. So considering looking at a 2020 4Runner. What I like to know is from those who have beefed there 4Runner up for major off-roading and who also has a dog?

    Oooh look, another mod.....

I second this. That is one cool as looking dog. If I see him, I will kidnap him, bond with him, re-name him and then teach him to love me and resent you!

With my experience those 2 don't go together. Even at trails like Johhny Park near Estes dog cannot stay safely. I leave the dog home for such trails. I have a relatively big dog, a German shepherd. My dog go in the cargo area and latched to a body harness. Story might be different for a smaller breed.

As for the color if you can come to Denver there's plenty. Autonation Toyota Arapahoe in Centennial has like 10 of them in inventory. Mountain states Toyota got 12. Groove Toyota got 12. Stevenson Toyota has 1.

The best dealership with my experience as well. I have purchased 3 Toyotas from them.

Everyday i convince myself to not drive there and trade in my 4runner for a GR Corolla.

You will need tires. 285/70-17's are the popular "go to" size. Rock sliders to protect the rocker panels. The rockers are very, very expensive and difficult to fix. Your doors will never be same.

A full set of skids, including the gas tank. I waited to get a tank skid until it was almost too late. The factory tank skid was bashed into the gas tank from a big hit. I am fortunate my tank wasn't punctured.

Front and rear bumpers to give you better approach and departure angles (i.e. less chance of scraping/tearing off your bumpers.) Install a winch when you install the front bumper. No sense putting the bumper on twice. If you're going "hard core", you'll need the winch ...eventually.

I bought these sliders based on this vid. Then I also bought their skids.

Oh... yeah. I have 2 dogs. Haven't been without one since 1979. I'm on #s' 8 and 9 now. Always had multiple dogs so they had a friend or 2 to play with.

I don't have the need to mod my 4Runner but I do have 3 dogs. Only issue is that my Labrador who generally loves to ride, has a lot of problems getting in and out of my 4Runner due to how high it sits, now that he's 12 years old.

My 4Runner is pretty much stock, although I do have a couple of fuzzy fellas I bring along. I purchased some Canvasback covers for the rear (seats folded down) with the 24” fold down extra part of the material that covers and protects the bumper from claw scratches.
