My beloved 2003 with 245000 has dumped the water pump. My wife was on her way home from work car started losing power engine check light came on she said it sounded like a diesel and finally pull to the side of the road.
Long story short, towed into shop mechanic checks definitely water pump, no sign of water in oil on dip stick or oil filler cap. $600 to fix. No guarantee it will go 2 week or 2 years. Don't know if head gasket leaked or anything else.

What would you do? I bought her brand new in 03, hard to think I might have to let her go.

Fix it....if it has no other damage like over heating. It has the 3.4 liter V6 so change the timing belt while they are replacing the water pump. just my $.02.

I'd replace it. Do the water pump, thermostat, and serpentine belt as well. The 4.0 has a timing chain, not timing belt, which is internal
