I could justify the cost if I fished saltwater all year. I still don't know if I would buy one. But, I can definitely appreciate a reel that can withstand the abuse of that environment year after year.

For freshwater, it's probably not worth it.

He looks nasty in the pic but he was clean and very powerful!!! There’s a piebald in here somewhere....I forgot how much fun it is to catch a fish....,,,,I’m also amazed at how easy it is to remove a circle hook from fish and turtles......,,,,

If it weren't for my obsession with Shimano reels and lately G. Loomis rods I could do alot to the 4runner. In this picture it's basically the same price as a King setup. Second picture would buy a set of tires.

I took a spill on the jetty in October that put a few gouges on my pristine van staal... and skunked out. Then landed that 36” bass in the same beach the week after... made it less painful.

The first four are from a trip to Florida in 2018, the trout probably was in 2018 too. I was on a work trip to Miami, and decided that my goal was to catch a Peacock Bass. There's a lot of canals around Miami, so I figured I'd just find some place and start throwing. But I didn't have any gear with me. Off to Bass Pro, and probably too much money later, I had a rod/reel/hooks, and a shit ton of lures. Funny thing is that I didn't catch even one of these on a lure. All were on minnows, or whatever minnows are called there. This part of the canal ran just behind a Post office near'ish to the airport. Being an aviation guy, it seemed like a great spot. I fished there every night after work. I don't know how many fish I caught, or what species most of them were. But I got my Peacock Bass! I returned all of them to that nasty, murky canal water. Tarpon were in the water too, and it was a lot of fun watching them cruising fast up the canal. I wasn't able to catch one of those though. Next time...

I have no freakin' idea of what this fish is. Nor did anyone else who saw the picture. One guy thought it might be a wolf fish? Looks like a dinosaur fish to me. Caught him in the rocks
    just off shore.

I caught this little guy in Indian Peaks Wilderness, NW of Boulder. It's a hike up to the stream, but so worth it. The elevation is nearly 11000 feet, so the oxygen is thin! There's a lake that feeds this stream, and you'll often see deer or elk there too. I saw a Marten on one trip too, which is basically a weasel. There's a bunch of hungry little trout in there and are really fun to catch on my fiberglass 3 Wt. The trout don't get very big due to a short growing season, but they are wild and beautiful. Sorry to the pretty little trout for the death grip, but he was slippery! I did wet my hands before the picture so I didn't hork up his slime covering. BTW, I tied that fly too. It's basically a Brown With White Wings Cripple, probably a size 16 or so? I tie a lot of cripples, though not on purpose. I'm just not very good at tying flies. But the trout eat them up!
