the hanger setup is inexpensive and super easy - 2 pine boards and a bunch of coated small hanger hooks from Lowes.

Ha! That place is dangerous! I'm about to go look at a rod for the Slammer, and maybe some line. I always feel really weird if I walk out of there without buying anything!

I have 2 spinfishers and love them! One 4000 (or 4500) V liveliner for bait fishing, and one VI2500 that I use for swimbaits and bass jigs. They're workhorses!

I was poking around, and saw reviews that the reels from the seller I bought from came only with the "spare" foam handle knob, so I cancelled it. :(

Now, I have to decide whether to forget about it, or buy it at full price from a reputable seller.

I was looking at pairing it with a Penn Prevail rod, and probably 15# Spiderwire. I've been using Spiderwire exclusively for braid for ~10-15 years.

Hmmm, well that sucks. I suppose I should have done more research. I really don't want a cheap foam handle if I'm spending that kind of money, though. Maybe I'll just order the 3500.

    Slammer 3500 is ordered!! :woot:

I was talking to my Dad earlier and he offered to split the cost as a gift (he still buys us birthday presents :D).

Now I need to get a rod, and line ordered!

I'm thinking 7'-7'6" medium -MH and 15-20# Spiderwire. I'll be using inshore it for swimbaits in Florida, and probably jigs and Texas rigs for bass fishing here in Wisconsin.

    Any luck?

It looks like you're set up nicely! Is the blue wire a backup in case a fish pulls the rods from the holder?

Blue line is run to batteries. Reel is electric. We are fishing at 800-1200 feet so the electric reel makes line retrieval easier. If you get bit you can disconnect the power line and fight the fish normally.

No luck yet. It’s boring fishing honestly. Watching the rod tip for hours and is like watching paint dry.

    Got it!

Now, I need to pick a rod. I decided to stay around $100. So far, the Shimano GLF looks really good. Looking at at a 7'6" MH.

I have 3 Tsunami rods and 2 Tsunami reels. Quality products. The Shield and Evict reels are nice.
