Looking at a new 2020 nightshade every option. Dealer will only go down 3k off msrp. About 47k. Is this about to expect. My tundra I bought was used and got a lot of but that’s different

3k is not bad. If you are comfortable with the price then go for it.

The Landcruiser at my dealer was only $89K. You should buy that!
seriously, I got $3K off my 4 runner . That might be the nationwide dealer standard right now? I mean the factory is till closed.
They have no new inventory. $3k might be it?

Where are you based? You can get about 10% off most models right now, if there are more than a few dealers in your area.

I bought my Limited in mid June. The dealers were surprisingly unmotivated to give big discounts despite the pandemic. As I watched the listings I saw them moving their 4Rs pretty quickly. So it seemed like a sellers market. I managed to get 9.25% off MSRP on mine (from about $49,300 to $44,700) but it was an epic negotiation that took weeks. My dealer was also stingy on APR, so that took forever to work out too (I ended up with 2.49% over 72 months).

I was happy with that deal but I expect most buyers settled for a lot less and they had reason to be happy too. Cause honestly the dealers were selling these things no problem.

It will be interesting to see what happens as we get closer to the release of the 2021s. On the one hand, you'd think that would motivate dealers to get rid of their 2020s. On the other, they probably won't have more than a couple 2020s left, plus a lot of potential customers who will believe that a small discount on a 2020 is a big win.

Bottom line, if you love the truck at 3K off I'd just buy it while you can. If you want to wait to see what the 2021s are like (eg LED headlights standard) then roll the dice. You might get a few bucks off of one you like better, or luck into a bigger discount on a leftover.
