I dont have a sunroof and when i roll back window down on my 2015 4runner the exhaust smell in the cab is terrible, my 2002 i had didnt have this problem, but it had a sunroof. Anyone have ideas? I have heard reroute of rear exhaust to side exit helps.

Yeah I notice it too, once in a while. Makes sense, negative pressure causes suction of sorts. Try diving down a dirt road with the rear window open for a more visible lesson in that!

Seems like a pretty common issue with the 4th and 5th gen runners. You can chop off the resonator so the exhaust exits out the bottom of the runner (instead of the back) or you can reroute the exhaust out the side.

I've not found this to happen on my 2014 tho with the roof open there is enough draft to suck in a small car.
