Just picked up a white 2020 SR5-P in November. Traded in my 2013 Tundra and Mercedes C300 for one. I've always like the white look of the 5th gen 4Runner, now I have one. Debated on getting a Pro but I just am not going to use any of the true "off road" features of the truck so I figured why bother. Based on what i've decided to do so far I probably would have been better off just paying the extra up front...oh well, live and learn. I'll be posting up mods here as they are completed.

First "mod" was replacing the stock shift knob with the black TRD version. I had the silver in my Tundra and got used to the feel.

Understand 100%. I did the same thing and always had regrets. We only get one trip round this side of the dirt so I traded for a pro after 5 months

The only reason to buy a PRO is if you want the exact look and features of the PRO.

You can get wheels, lift, ETC for less than the cost difference between the SR5 and the PRO. This way you can choose the upgrades that YOU want.

What are you planning on installing that would have come with the PRO?

PS- Welcome to the forum! And, congratulations on your purchase:cool:

You made the right choice and your SR5 is just as capable as any other model. About the only thing you are missing from the Off road/PRO models that would help you off road is the rear locker. You can buy that aftermarket. Other than that you have the same vehicle.

    Welcome!

Yeah, the title was more tongue in cheek. I don't intend to fully mod out to at TRD pro. I'll probably leave the suspension alone other than simply leveling out the truck. Tires and wheels eat up nearly 2K worth of difference once I pay for the tpms to be removed from the stockers (Rims were 795 OTD and tires are around another 8-900). I bought the SR5-P site unseen after reviewing the packages and driving a standard SR5. The softex in the SR5-P, IMO, is awful. The gray just makes it look so cheap. The all black in the TRD Pro would have been welcome. Might just order some Wet Okole covers, so many things to do.

    What's in the box?!?!?!!?

That leaves you another $8K for roof rack, shocks, and other goodies:D

Local Toyota dealer quoted me $100 to swap TPMS and tires from stock to the TRD wheels so I jumped at that. I don't think the service writer knew what he was doing when he told me that price but they honored it without hassle. Here is what the stock SR5 tires look like on the black TRD wheels, white SR5 stock suspension.

I like the KO2s but am also considering the General Grabber A/T-X. Those have even better reviews and a lower cost. Probably will wait until April timeframe when the next round of rebates/discounts on tires hits.

Those Generals look pretty nice. They look very similar to the KO2. If you try them, I look forward to hearing about them.

I'm very happy with my KO2's. I honestly believe that they are one of the best do-it-all tires available. I don't experience any of the issues with wet traction that some people have. I have about 22-23K on them and, so far, I would buy them again.

no, after the squirrels and all the other problems I had with it I decided that I needed to move on from it. The dealership offered to get me out of it and into the TRD Pro and I did it. Still lost out some but they were good to me and really only lost out on the original taxes and fees when it was all done.
